Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Most of his childhood was a blur of his sibling Silas and his mother Eris, with glimpses of Enderly in between visiting and trying to hoard Eris away from her own children because of his jealousy. There wasn't any violence in his home den, per say, but it wasn't exactly peaceful either. Eris was a strong independent female and she didn't like the accusations Enderly liked to throw around about her cheating on him. Every once in a while, she would show him just how intolerable the behavior was and draw a little blood in her rage. Loki remembered looking on with curiosity, wondering if he should be scared to have his parents fighting. Should he have been cowering? Should he have growled or barked as Silas did sometimes, trying to make them stop? Instead he'd watched in silence. He could sense Eris' anger and indignation. He could sense Enderly's betrayal and insecurities.

They never went without growing up, even being packless. Eris was a good mother. She never let her pups go without. His gaze continued to glide over the wolves present at the waterside without care. His gaze was empty, distant as he watched them play in the water and converse amongst themselves. When he sensed a pair of eyes on him in particular, he slowly turned his head to see the female watching him. And that's exactly what she continued to do for a few minutes in which he blinked at her and said and did nothing. Was she here to talk or to watch? She had a flower in her mouth. Did it have a purpose? Was she giving to someone?

She made her way to him and he turned his attention back to the other wolves, wondering if she would go away if he pretended she wasn't there. But at the same time, maybe he should talk to her and see if she knew anything useful. She was out here in the free lands and willing to chat, it seems, so why not? She sat beside him, dropping the flower between them and he glanced down at it momentarily before looking at her. "Waste of a flower to pick it only to let it lie in the dirt. It could float in the water, maybe suffocate some fish instead." He said the words in a monotone voice, neither excited about the prospect nor distasteful.

Then he moved his gaze back to the other wolves. One ear flicked toward her though cause she was still there and could still talk. Her voice came off concerned and curious but it wasn't enough to draw his gaze. She asked why he didn't join in and he shrugged. "The water seems crowded. And I don't make for good company." Only then did he turn his gaze to her and blinked, tilting his head. "You smell of must and rot, like the swamp. Do you have family there?" Even as he asked it, there was no true curiosity in his voice, no interest in his gaze. He only wondered if she had family there, where would his family be? Did they go to Diveen like his father was heading or did they go elsewhere? Were they scattered? Did he even have other siblings in Moladian besides the boy with the scar?
