Great observations, Mr pelotapete.
Ever notice that when Milford went way out of its way to provide the fans with a little extra spice by inviting some Basques from the homeland to fly in and participate in their tournaments, that those guys ALWAYS underwhelmed, ALWAYS underperformed?
IMO, even tho it was 100% good intentions, the combo of 'not experienced on that court' plus Circadian Rhythm disruption (aka jet lag) was deadly.
Put it this way, if the fate of the planet depended on the visitors winning or putting on an A+ level performance, I think every sane person would want them to arrive 1 or 2 weeks early and get practicing. Of course, that solution isn't practical, but it illustrates the kind of obstacles Erik might face going against 'all partidos - all the time' opponents who live on that court he is visiting.
So I agree with you, give Erik time to acclimate, play on a level field, and make sure that the all-important backcourt partners are balanced. Then we will see. Replies:
