If anyone knows anything about big cat behavior and can help with some advice on how keep my family safe we would appreciate it. My 14 year old, 190 pound son had a very close encounter with a mountain lion earlier this evening... he was in the woods approximately 50- 100 yards from the house standing by the small campfire he built ( it was close to dusk ) when he felt he should turn around. There was a mountain lion no more than 15 feet behind him with its' fangs bared. He managed to collect himself together enough to get his survival backpack, and back up walking ( as calmly as possible ) back to the house with the cat stalking him. I had asked for some help in another group and was completely mocked... this was NOT a bobcat. This cat was about twice the size of my 30 pound dog and looked exactly like a mountain lion and NOTHING like a bobcat. There is no mistake as to what this thing is. It stuck around patrolling around the tree line for some time after. We have animals and small children. I am more concerned about my children than my animals, and once again, if anyone knows anything about animal behavior and can help me keep my family safe please let me know. My cat has been missing since Monday. I am fairly certain I know what happened to him. Thank you. We live in Western Coventry
