There was a quiet calm between the two sisters as Vita Nova divulged the dark details of what transpired over the last year to safeguard her daughter's existence. She felt so foolish in the wake of all of it now. How did she get to this low point in her life? How did she not pinpoint right away that Koray was an abusive, terrible stallion? Why did she succumb to Fallo, knowing well that the consequences would greatly impede her life? It was too late for all this now, Nova knew. Going over it again and again was just her way to continue to punish herself for her many mistakes.
Nevertheless, the quiet but strong support from Oswin in this moment did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. She nickered softly to her her sister as she felt her muzzle brush gently near her withers, and her hot exhales against her pelt. She offered Oswin a sheepish smile as the worst of her emotions had seemingly passed, and she was regaining her composure. The sides of her round barrel rose and feel in a great huff, signaling a deep sigh, in which Vita Nova attempted to expel all remaining worries from her physical body. She bobbed her head once, twice, in confirmation that she was OK.
A short silence spanned between them before Oswin spoke. Nova's bright blue gaze drifted out to the two fillies and she sighed again, this time in a more relaxed manner. Two ashen-colored ear lobes flicked forward as Nova focused on her, watching as her sister fumbled over her words. A secret? The grey spotted mare took a step closer to Oswin. "What is it?" She asked weakly, but curiously. The second the golden-flecked stallion's name fell from her lips, Nova's stomach dropped. Her gut churned into tight knots, and in an attempt to relieve this uncomfortable restriction, the mare's head shot high up over her withers. She had been too encumbered by her own inhibitions lately to be too worried about the stallion that seemingly still haunted her in her dreams. Even after all this time, she found herself revisiting the happy memories she had of him. He was the only stallion she could honestly say she ever loved.
The grey mare swallowed hard and continued to listen as Oswin relented that the stallion was in fact, not dead. For a second, she wanted to laugh about it. Of course he's still around, she thought with the roll of her eyes. But as Oswin explained further, the usually stony mare (when it came to him) felt a pang of sadness for him and more importantly, the children he'd left behind. "Wow, Oswin." Nova blurted out after she weighed the offer. She wasn't mad with her sister. He was her family too, after all. She sighed again and bobbed her head in reluctant agreement that she would try to help. "For his kids though, not for him."
