Bolivar and Cachin

I'm lucky I saw that last year of Bolivar and Cachin at Bridgeport, even though I was only 17.

Everyone knew it was their last year there, because they were leaving for Ricardo Sotil's fronton on Madrid -- that wound up never being built.

Bolivar was trying to go perfect in wins titles at Bridgeport, and Cachin was determined to finally beat him. The quality of play was amazing. Sotil had them buried in the 5 and 7 posts, but they still dominated the late games.

The last night, Cachin entered with two more wins. If Bolivar tied him, Boli would be the champ due to more places and shows. Cachin went winless the final night, and Bolivar won once, with the feature singles and doubles still to come. And Egurbi won them both, meaning Cachin won the title by one.
