Can anyone remember one of the regimental police Big Cpl McNair a giant of a man.and a Fus Jock Hendry.Jock was a member of D company. I had been on duty as Canteen Cowboy on a Friday Night. As it was normal at that time I had one hell of a job trying to clear the NAFFI bar. Ran the gauntlet twice dodging a few glasses and bottles. anyhow to cut a long story short the bar was cleared about 45 minutes after closing time.
I made my way back to D Coy office Big McNair as some will remember was a giant of a man not far short of 7ft and he must have weighed about 20stone He was holding onto the gutter of the office and telling Jock to come down and not to be stupid Jock had
obviously had a few to many and was out of his tree!!!The time I would say was about 2330 hrs .Jock had a length of D 10 wire and and a Pound slab of Gun cotton tied to the wire lowering it down the Chimney.he said he was going to get CSM Burrows.Big Mc.managed to get Jock down and promtly jailed him. I cant remember what happened after that or what became of Cpl McNair. The office was empty and the fire was out thankfully.Happy Days what. Larry
