Hey loves. Sorry it's taken longer to post this than I said it would, and thank you so much for all the kind words you gave me before. The last few weeks haven't given me any grand revelations regarding whether to stay or go, which I think in itself is probably a sign that I should take an extended break. I think this is especially important not just for my mental health, but because money is a bit tight right now and I need to put a lot more time and energy into earning it back. So for the time being, I'll be staying on as a mod but will be retiring all my characters. I want to give them IC reasons for leaving, however, rather than just having them vanish, so here are my current thoughts on how/why they're going:
ARGENTO - I can't think of a specific reason for him other than maybe he got bored of the Lagoon and wanted to explore or just couldn't deal with leadership any more. (EDIT: I thought of a good reason! See the section about Diamant/Jetta.) Since it's currently election season in the Lagoon, that means the position of Boss is open for anyone to put themselves forward for. If no one wants it, then it will default to whomever has been there the longest. I'm not sure if this should technically be Ernesto or Ruger - Ruger was in the Lagoon long before Ernesto, but he's also left a few times, and Ernesto arrived before his most recent return. Chaos and Frost, maybe something to discuss amongst yourselves?
BRIENNE & EVERGLOW - Vinyl, I saw your message below, and that works fine for me. I think I'm going to say that when Brienne felt her time was coming, she retreated to a hiding place where she gave birth and passed away. I'm really sorry that I couldn't give her the send-off she deserved, but I'll always treasure the relationship she had with Shamwari. With regards to Everglow, I'm going to say that she followed her mother and when Brienne passed, Everglow threw herself into the sea in grief. DON'T WORRY SHE'S STILL ALIVE. We can just say that the sea carried her off somewhere and she got lost. Alison, I know we planned for her and Iskulan to be attached at the hip, so if you want to say he followed her, that's totally fine by me (in fact that would be super useful for Everglow considering she's blind), and we can plot out where they went when they eventually return. What you do with Verdi is totally up to you, though I don't know what you want to do about a wet nurse? Maybe Shamwari can help him find one?
DIAMANT, JETTA, & WADE - I think we had finally gotten to the point where Jetta was about to find out that Mariael was holding Diamant captive, right? Maybe we can say that by the time she got to Tinuvel, Diamant had disappeared. Pirate, in his thread with Mariael I was going to have him ask for freedom so he could be a father to his daughter. Even if Mariael didn't grant it to him, we can say that he snuck out and disappeared. I'm not sure what would have happened to him - he's not really the type to go back on his word and abandon his family, so maybe he got caught in a storm and washed up somewhere far away. Jetta, upon learning this (from Mariael I guess?) would feel the need to leave to look for him, and it would make sense for her to stop by the Lagoon and tell Gent about it, which would then give him a good reason to leave and come with her. Wade obviously would come too, being a mama's boy and wanting to help his family. That's really the only reason I can think of why Jetta would logically leave the Peak, because it would take a lot for her to abandon her sisters. Maybe, before she left for Tinuvel, she even told some of them that she had a vision that her brother was in trouble? Also, her leaving means the position of Prime Minister is up for the taking, if anyone wants to put themselves forward for it before the final election. Otherwise it will default to whomever's been there the longest (which I think might be Oswin?).
EVREN - This one's a toughie, because there's almost nothing that could make Evren abandon her childhood home and her family. However, Pippa, if you're ok with saying she went ahead and brought Mikhail to the desert and gave birth to her stillborn, I think that could be a good trigger. I don't think she would be angry at him or blame him for the foal's death, but it might have caused her to act really cold towards him. She wouldn't leave without announcing her intentions, however. Given she has already lost her father and brother, I think her foal's death would be the straw that broke the camel's back and would make her want to leave to search for her mother once and for all, to see if she's still alive, because she'd want to cling to any last remaining family. She would tell Mikhail that he was free to leave, and she would tell Indira that she was welcome to come with her on her search. Chaos, it's cool if you want to say that Evren and Persy agreed to an alliance before she left (and maybe flirted a little too lmao). Vinyl, if you want to say that Evren told Nova about the problems she was having with Shamwari to give Nova a reason to go to the prairie, feel free.
