Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

WELCOME TO A WORLD OF BLOODY EVOLUTION

BARRETT
Hope you're ready for a revolution

They were too young to have to deal with these things. They were forced to mature and fast, thoughts that no child at his age had any right thinking he had too. Constantly. It was why he felt the way he did. Angsty. Such a terrible, frustrating feeling. He didn’t want to feel this way, be a burden on anyone. Not Mohegan, not Kajika, not even their Aunt. He didn’t know what he would do when their father died… but it probably wasn’t stay here. It was nothing against the efforts of anyone who was trying, but there was the issue of if he wanted to stick close to anyone it was Pax. He got it, he understood, they were brothers after all littermates. Mouse was fine and great, but she seemed to be handling it in her own way, a girl way, Rett thought, and probably healthier than he was flopping out of trees feeling pain in his body just so he knew he still could feel something even if it was physical.

He grinned as if he wasn’t bothered at all, and really he wasn’t, it felt good to know that his brother cared though, his dark banner waved as he gave a nod to him. ”Yeah, just seemed fun to fall, it’s a weird good feeling… maybe we can get a bed of leaves together and both try it sometime… or water somewhere or something.” He said his tail waving about almost a daring grin touching his maw. He wondered what it was like to fly on that thought, probably pretty good. You could go so far so fast, just like how you were high up and you could see beyond the trees. Trees which he had never left before. He wondered what was out there on that thought. He got high enough once to see less trees, but never anything else. ”I know, I’ll be more careful. Don’t want you to worry about me.” After all they both knew they had enough to think about, and he wouldn’t do it again. He thought about Paxton and having him lose another family member, he wasn’t about to do that to him either.

He let their attention turn towards his offering though. His bright blue, teal and green eyes fixating on it, while he spoke and his brother fixating very close on his lips as he normally did. Maybe Rett should try not making sound when he spoke sometime… then it would be like they had their own language! Sort of. It would be like what their aunt did! It wasn’t like it mattered to Paxton anyway if he put sound with his voice or not. Maybe he could start with like… whispering… another day maybe, another time. His excited thoughts quickly turned somber though as Paxton said that he wanted to take it to their mother’s grave. Barrett’s eyes met with his sibling’s then, seeing the sadness in his eyes. His own gaze went downcast, focusing on the grass and leaf litter at his paws for a second before looking back up and giving nod to show he agreed.

Then off he went. Trotting through the woulds aware of the dull pain from his fall on his journey though it was certainly ignorable. He was quiet for most of it, though soon they arrived at the little wooded area close to the borders where she had been put to rest. He cleared away the dried up flowers that had been put there last time setting them to the side of the small clearing before lowering himself slowly to his haunches before her grave. He didn’t have anything to really say. Nothing he wanted to say aloud at least. It was just as depressing as he thought it would be, and all he did was let his eyes wander wondering where it would be best to add their father when the inevitable happened.

”Do you… think she’d be mad if we left Taviora? Do you think Dad would be mad?” He said after gaining his brother’s attention so that he could see what he was saying. He said we though, cause, if Paxton really wanted to stay, well, Rett wouldn’t go but right now, this place just felt like a bunch of bittersweet memories coming up to bite at him constantly. While he would remember them fondly, he wanted to remember them when he wanted, not because he walked on a certain trail or visited a certian place, but because he wanted those fond memories to come back to him. It seemed fair right? ”Would you want to leave?” He asked then his eyes raising up to meet his brother’s green and gold eyes to make sure his brother would be honest with him.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
