Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

The little giggle melted Magpie’s heart. Such a sweet little angel, left all alone in the forest. Truly she hoped that there was a good explanation for such an act. Perhaps the pup’s mother had gone to hunt, but to be gone for so very long? To leave him on his own for an entire night. Perhaps something had happened? Stay and wait. Words like that were typically meant for keeping a pup safe. At least that would be why she would use them. Her own foster mother might have used them for other reasons, but she liked to think that Ghala was an exception to the general decency of the world. Life had made her cruel and bitter and perhaps, she realized, something to be pitied.

”Well, we must listen to our mothers, mustn’t we, Forrest?” Mags said with a smile. She wriggled closer and curled herself around the pup. She would wait with him until she could not bear to hear his tiny stomach grumbling. If his mother had been gone all night, that meant he had not eaten either. That was a feeling that she remembered quite well. She knew of only one pair of wolves that was nursing a litter at the moment, she would convince them to help or she would find another elsewhere that would help. He was far too young to be weaned just yet.

”Would you like to hear a story while we wait?” She arched her neck and nudged the pup’s cheek with her speckled nose. ”Once upon a time, there was a brave little wolf who loved his mother very much…”
