The skies had opened almost as soon as little feet had touched the dark sandy beach, sending them running for cover into the little cave that she and Alder had found on one of their adventures. The storm that blew in was terrifying in it's ferocity, the wind and the waves screaming out in their anger. She probably shouldn't have wandered out to the sea today, not when the skies had already started to darken with fury. Yet, the call of the sea was so strong that Nerissa could not ignore it when it pulled to her. She had lived her whole life in the sea, whether it be on boat of in the water. In her previous days as an octopus, she had found her happiness on the water. Even now, she felt most happy by the sea. Especially since she was slowly beginning to realize that her bonded was not here...and even worse, she may never be here.
Neri had cuddled herself up in the cave, wrapping herself in one of the large blankets that she and Alder had left in the cave. The winds roared and the rain poured in waves of it's own over the next few hours or so, keeping the little fairy huddled in the cave. She must have fallen asleep during that time, because suddenly she was awoken by the sounds of distress. A sea animal was crying out for help and it tugged at all of her heartstrings. She sprang up on her feet, dropping the blanket onto the large rock she had been leaning against. She rushed out of the cave, thankful that the rain had stopped, although the wind still battered her about. A long sorrowful note filled the air and she ran towards the sound with quickened steps.
She saw the large mound upon the sand and her pace slowed just slightly as hesitation set in. The mound upon the sand was none other than the form of a young killer whale, an orca. She had run into these creatures before. In fact, she had almost been eaten by them at one point or another during her sea creature years. The thought to turn and run away crossed her mind for only the briefest moment before she tossed it out and squashed it. The creature before her needed help and she had the ability to help it. It didn't matter what type of creature he was or what he had done in the past (like maybe eat an octopus). He was a creature in need and she was going to do what she could to help him.
Slowly she began to approach the whale, hands held up in a gentle and friendly manner. "Mr. Whale? I'm here to help you. Please don't eat me." She said as she gently reached a hand out to pat his nose. She looked around her and tried to figure out the best course of action to take. Seeing a bucket that had been cast aside in the storm, she quickly took it in her hands and ran to and from the sea, pouring buckets of water on the whale. "I'm going to figure out how to put you back into the sea. I just need some time! If you have any ideas and can give me some sort of sign on how to help, please do!" Her voice was full of concern and slight fear. She needed to figure out how to get the whale back into the sea.
