Only her ears shifted at the sound of an approaching wolf. She heard Sila's call for her parents, but neither would be close enough to hear at the moment. A sigh pushed from her nostrils, thinking maybe she should move back into the den where her mother had told her to stay - the comfort of the furs would offer a better bed to sleep on. But Melee simply couldn't muster the energy. So she stayed where she was, her jade eyes turning to see the woman of white and copper as she jogged towards the den. She wasn't familiar, but Melee had yet to encounter a wolf in Spirane who meant her any harm.

Normally the girl would be on her feet, eager to meet someone new and maybe entice them to play with her. But not today. Today she watched as the woman lowered herself to the ground and rumbled a greeting, to which Melee answered with a more friendly whine, though it was still tainted with the misery of the illness that was fast descending upon her. If she had known what was in store for her in the coming days and weeks, perhaps she would not have even attempted to greet her. After all, this was only the beginning, and things were likely to get much worse before they got better.

Sila's introduction rose a familiar flutter of hope in the girl. She was a healer! Surely she could help her feel better and she would be back to herself in time to join her brother and sister in whatever adventure they were off partaking in today. That momentary thought gave the girl enough energy to lift her head from the ground, "I'm Melee," she responded, the barest hint of her usual brightness underlying her tones, before the weight of her head felt much too heavy to keep aloft and it promptly plopped down onto her forepaw. "I don't feel so good."
