Water sprayed up around the two pups as they splashed towards the edge of the creek, neither bothering to stop and shake the excess wetness from their fur when they reached the bank. Melee was the first to hit try land, her claws digging into the soft soil to gain traction and send her sprinting after the squirrel. Eldrax was right behind her, and their combined laughter rang across the clearing as they set their sights on this new target. Melee didn't care that Eldrax sometimes acted tough or crass, trying to get a rise out of her or Swifttalon; he was her brother before anything else, and she loved him with all her heart.

Puppy yips and barks filled the air, and the squirrel took off across the ground, his big bushy tail twitching back and forth as he ran. He was taunting them! Melee bared her teeth in more of a smile than a snarl. With a burst of speed, Eldrax gained ground to catch up to her. She was enjoying the thrill of the chase, but then her brother challenged her. Could she catch the little grey rodent? Though she hadn't really considered what would happen if she could get closer to the squirrel, now all she could think about was grabbing that bushy tail he'd waved in her face.

Flashing a grin at her brother, she stretched out her puppy body and put on a burst of speed. Her legs were just a little bit longer than Eldrax's, but she was still a growing pup only just nearing her first summer. Giving it her all, she pushed herself as fast as she could go. The gap between her and the squirrel narrowed, and Melee's jade eyes widened with excitement. Taking her chance, she swatted out with a front paw, but the squirrel sped up again and she didn't even brush his tail. The action had caused her to slow down, and she looked over to Eldrax, sure that he would have something smart to say and getting there first - "Well...come on, lets see you...do better!" she challenged between panting breaths, starting to grow tired from such an exciting day away from the den.
