Vita Nova and Petal had little time to discuss their shared mutual connection before the intrusion, but the steely spotted mare was curious to see Petal's response to this news. She hoped the smaller mare found it comforting, somewhat. If she trusted Shamwari than perhaps she'd see that Nova was worth trusting too. It seemed the latter was about to be put the test, given the strange stallion who made his presence known rather quickly.
Nova spied Petal from one side blue eye as he approached, watching as Petal warned him subtly to keep his distance. Vita Nova's gaze then flicked back to the stallion. A shiver ran down the length of her spine as she watched him assess Petal first, in almost a primal way that was rather unsettling. Vita Nova might not have hit it off with Orkaan, the former ruler of the Inlet, but at least he never looked at her like she was a piece of meat. Watching this blatant display, Nova snorted loudly and began to paw feverishly with one front leg. His attention was quickly drawn to her then. Which was fine. If Nova could handle Koray, she could handle this guy.
"Homes to the homeless. Do you hear that Petal? How generous of you." She said, her tone laced with snark yet very mild interest. She shot the mare a wiry grin before settling a more stony glare back on the Inlet stallion. "I'm a former resident of the Inlet, you know. There's been a lot of turn over lately. How do we know you won't be gone like the rest of those bozos in a few weeks?" She spat, her thick, wavy tail flicking quickly over her haunches. Vita Nova considers how he mentioned his sister. She wondered if Shamwari or Paradiso did so in similar ways when they were meeting new horses. but decides quickly they wouldn't. It seems like a ploy of some sort. "Oh yeah? What's your sister like?" She pushes further, curious to see where this stallion wanted to go with that particular thread.
Petal remained mostly quiet up until this point, but Nova felt relatively assured of herself. She saw no reason why the two of them wouldn't be able to walk away from this stallion without issue. "Sorry to say you're out of luck with this one here. She's already taken for." Nova said, pushing her nose in the air of Petal's direction. Even if it was a lie, she hoped that would take the heat off of her new friend, at least. "I'm Vita Nova. What's your name?"
