CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.

Death of the Oldham Branch President Joe Farquhar JP ex 5LF
IP: 2.98.42.189

I have been informed this morning by Mr Alan (Nobby) Noble, Oldham Branch Chairman of the death of our President Mr Joe Farquhar JP ex D Coy 5th bn the Lancashire Fusiliers. I regret having to inform all Oldham Branch members of the death of Joe by the Facebook group, but it is the easiest way to inform you all at the same time. Joe had been ill for some time and had been in a local nursing home in Oldham. Nobby and I had hoped to visit him in the next few weeks, but his death has really caught us out.

I will of course inform everyone of the funeral details, however, we will have to wait for Joe’s wishes of where he will be laid to rest in either Oldham or Scotland.

I personally feel his loss as he has always supported Alan, myself and especially the Oldham Branch where he has been the President for over 20 years. He was a fiercely loyal Lancashire Fusilier in all that time.

He was a proud supporter of Manchester City Football Club where he was a season ticket holder.

Rest in Peace Joe, Once A Fusilier, Always A Fusilier.

Omnia Audax
