She had successfully gotten two of the three taken children back from Iromar. Whisper and Archana were now safely tucked into her forest, but Aspis was still there. He chose it, sort of, he did what she expected he would do. Let them go, keep himself there. She would be back, she promised she would be, she didn't want him to give up hope on her, or his family coming back for him and certainly didn’t want to see Blackthorne sinking his horrid thoughts or teachings upon him soon either. Zelda wanted to get him back, before then. She could find someone to teach him anything he wanted, to fight, diplomacy, anything, it didn’t have to come from someone like Blackthorne who fought far less than honorably. He was… okay though, for now she tried to tell herself, at the very least Zelda’s two cousins were safe and sound back at home with their mothers. She wasn’t sure what to do about Halcyon though.
Still, she hadn’t yet been able to locate him and let him know of his daughter’s return, and the position his son was in. She wanted to talk to him herself, but if he wasn’t going to come back to Taviora anytime soon, then she knew she would have to find him herself. Sure she could have sent Tepi or one of her other younger wolves out, but she wanted to talk to him personally, she felt that perhaps he might not be in the best of mental states having been out here as a loner once again, likely searching for a way into Iromar to retrieve his children. If that was what she thought though, then what better place to begin her tracking than close to the borders?
She had scouted the area of Susil in her first day, and certainly had picked up his scent in the area more than once, the scent was faint, heading south but certainly was him. She didn’t stay out that night, choosing to return to Taviora collect her thoughts and then start fresh the next day in Aplos where the trail had seemed to head off too. Today was that day, and it was with a skip in her heart that she had found the fresh trail. As expected he seemed to constantly be hovering around the borders. She followed the trail almost all the way down towards the ocean when she spotted his russet form and it bristled almost instantly.
She paused for a second, slowing her approach, not sure if he really knew who it was for a moment before finally it seemed to dawn on him as she got a little closer. It was perhaps a little more hesitantly, he was a mess in short. When he did recognize her his tail waved lightly and wondered what she was doing here. ”Dangerous to those who try to sneak through its borders maybe, but I’m not here for Iromar, I’m here for you Uncle Halcyon. I got Archana and Whisper back from Blackthrone, they are in Taviora with Aster and Pine now. Aspis is still there, but he’s okay, he’s a tough boy, but I plan to get him back too.” She explained to him gently, not elaborating yet on how she had done that, though it certainly had been cerebral. She didn't like it all, but it had worked out. ”That’s why I was here, to tell you they were home, and I am keeping the promise I made to all of you. I was hoping you would also come back to see her. I’m sure she would be happy to see her dad.” Zelda said though it was sort of a selfish thing on her part too, she wanted him back and safe and away from Blackthorne. She could tell he had been having a rough time of it out here, and they would do better together she thought, but it was ultimately up to him.
