Of all the wolves he might be glad to see, Masque was among them. Perhaps he would not always outright admit it beneath his rather brusque exterior, there was a small soft spot for the young woman he had helped back in Spirane. His tail waved as he moved forward to meet her, feeling almost certain that his friend had heard his rather faint, rasping call.

Tychon gave a grin. It looked far more menacing and hideous with his missing lip, but it was certainly genuine. A harsh chuckle escaped him at her antics. She was always a fun loving wolf. His tail waved as she tittered on. He was perfectly content to let her talk while he listened. When she asked about his throat, a grunt escaped him. "No pain... But trouble sometimes," his voice rasped, "speaking."

It could have been worse. The crushing blow that had damaged his throat could have killed him. Tychon imagined there were times he should have been grateful. Others, he wondered if he was just bitter and would have been better off dead. It didn't really matter. He was still alive, so better to make the best out of a bad situation. He was capable of at least that much.
