Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Magpie
have courage
be kind

Magpie’s heart melted into a little puddle as Forrest peered up at her. Though she truly hoped that his mother was well, she had her doubts given the state of things. Certainly, though, if the wolf could’ve returned for her son, she would have. Despite her own experiences, the fluffy golden female couldn’t possibly imagine intentionally leaving a child of her own. Glad that he was willing to wait at least a little while longer, Magpie began to worry. What if Arace refused? She wasn’t sure Forrest could wait the length of time it would take for her to find another nursing mother for him to fill his stomach. Doing her best to keep her anxiety from showing, she waited and was relieved that not long after she’d let out her call, a dark male scattered with little pinpricks of white approached.

She knew him only as the father of the small pups. He was a handsome enough fellow though with a family and several years her senior, Magpie merely admired his unique coat and appreciated his calm demeanor. He wasn’t at all intimidating despite his size and the serious way he peered down at them. He kept his distance though seemed interested in Forrest. That was a good thing, wasn’t it? Certainly it wouldn’t have been good if he’d completely ignored the pup…right? Nervous and a little unsure about how to start this particular conversation, Magpie shifted her weight slightly, careful not to disturb Forrest as he leaned against her. When finally greeted them, Magpie offered a tentative smile.

”Hello, sir.” He seemed to analyze them a bit more then spoke again, obviously a bit concerned and perhaps confused by the presence of a pup so small away from its mother. She shared that sentiment and it was the noticeable concern and the mention of parents that spurred Magpie into action. Casting a furtive glance down at Forrest, she sighed and tried to word her query in such a way that would explain the situation without cluing the pup into what she suspected was the disappearance of his parents. ”I suppose this is a bit of an adventure, wouldn’t you say so Forrest?” She started in a soft and cheerful tone, trying to keep the pup’s spirits up though surely he was starving and nearly exhausted from the whole mess. She looked back up at the dark male before them and her own opal eyes met his, her expression intensifying slightly. ”I am a guest of Taviora; Magpie. I came across this little man here in the woods. He’s been waiting ever so patiently for his mother to come back...since last night. Isn’t that right Forrest?”

Lowering her head, she nosed him just behind his right ear and snorted softly, ruffling the fur there. She really couldn’t imagine what he must be thinking. Left in a hole and told by his mother she’d return. Several hours later a stranger finds him and takes him to meet more strangers. But she would make sure he stayed safe and comfortable as best she could. ”You see, sir. I was wondering if I might appeal to your mate to fed Forrest. It can’t be good for him to go so long without food at such an age.” Not that that had ever stopped her foster mother from refusing her meals when she was in a fowl mood. Magpie’s large ears drooped as she remembered the feeling of painful hunger and barely bit back a whine. It had been several months since she’d had to even think about that. She’d filled out and grown a bit and not once had she felt her stomach cramp with pain since she’d been found by Zanon. Now it was her turn to do the same for Forrest. ”I’d be willing to offer my services as helper. I could hunt or watch your pups. Anything really....please?”

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
