Though he'd listened closely for the obvious signs of another wolf in the vicinity, the other nearby predator had slipped under his radar. The behemoth male struck hard and fast when he thundered forward into the female's small clearing. She was quick enough to bound out of reach, but he kept up the pursuit. A flash of white fur announced the presence of another wolf, and Reaver bared his teeth, prepared to defend himself if this wolf had come to protect his mate. He did not falter - he would rip the male's throat out and then go after his shewolf if need be. But such was not the case. Instead it was the female that faltered, turning back to seek another route of escape, and effectively throwing herself into Reaver's waiting jaws.

His teeth sunk deep into the flesh of her exposed throat - like a knife through butter - and a muffled scream slipped from her lips. His grasp was midway down her neck, not quite high enough to cut off all air and sound. Only then did he get a good look at the other wolf, and recognition trickled down through his mind just like the auburn markings on his progeny's sides. This was not a time for reunion, however - the shewolf needed to be silenced, and Reaver planted his feet and violently shook his head back and forth. She struggled against him, trying to dig her hind paws into the soil and pull back and away from the beast that sought to suffocate her.

A snarl cause blood to bubble out through Reaver's lips, and he ground his teeth together to deepen his hold on her. But she wasn't ready to give up just yet. She had powerful hindquarters, and she was using them to the best of her ability to try to escape the demon at her throat - having forgotten about the monster at her back.
