Ernesto grinned at Oswin’s laugh. The way she tossed her head was tantalising, and he found her mock disdain all the more engaging. She certainly gave as good as she got, and he liked that about her. The circumstances for their meeting had hardly been positive, but he had enjoyed it nonetheless and he thought she liked it a little more than she let on too – or he liked to think so, at least.

“Oh, serious?” he replied, tilting his head at her with a coy smile. He noticed the way her playful expression slipped away, however, and with interest Ernesto adjusted his own tone a little in response.

“Cullen?” Ernesto was not exactly surprised to hear Oswin’s question – she struck him as a woman who liked to know what was what – but he was somewhat surprised she had turned to him for the information.

“I don’t know him much at all, to be honest. He took over quite recently – he used to roam the Lagoon a long time ago, apparently, but that’s about all I know of the man so far,” he replied, watching Oswin’s reaction with interest.

“It doesn’t really matter to me who’s in charge, since I don’t much like to do as I’m told anyway,” he added, a sly grin creeping back towards the corners of his lips.

“Are you plotting something, pequeño guerrero?”
