I wonder why the Navy didn't adopt issuing ginger pills to offset seasickness when we were Midshipmen. On our cruises as I recall if you were feeling barfy the solution was to munch on saltines. I lucked on to ginger some 20 years ago when I consumed a whole bottle of champagne on New Year's eve and thought eating something before bedtime was the way to go. I found the only snack food available was a bag of ginger snaps so ate a dozen or more and sacked out. The next morning I awoke without any hangover effects and realized that Ginger was the only explanation.I'm much more careful since then and keep a supply of Ginger snaps around in case I partake of too much of bubble juice or other alcoholic beverages. I wonder if the modern Navy is on to Ginger as a way to counter seasickness. Perhaps there is now a better solution!
