here I come, here I come, grab your guns and crossbows
and run, better run, from the skull and crossbones

Milo winced as Riviera... Rivvy... dropped her sword. No... No... Pick it up. You have to pick it up! he moaned internally, shuffling back a bit as she approached him. He couldn't let her get close, he couldn't... His breath caught in his throat as she knelt before him, pulled him to her. Kissed him, as if her life depended on it. And for a moment, just one brief moment, he was free. And then she pulled back, rested her forehead against his, and the corruption threatened to rise up and choke him once again. He groaned softly, closing his eyes for a long moment, and then he nudged her gently away.

"Have... to..." he ground out, in a voice he barely recognized as his own. He shifted, grabbing her sword from the wrong end. His blood joined that of the other corrupteds but he hardly noticed. He pressed the blade against his breast, tip against his heart, and looked up at her with pleading orange eyes. "Please... Rivvy... can't... stop... for long. Don't... let me... kill you. Can't... bear it."

He reached up, a ghost of his former smile on his face as he touched her cheek. He pulled it away quickly as the fingers twisted, becoming more animal-like than human with sharp claws on every finger. He closed his eyes, though whether it was to make it easier on her or himself he wasn't sure. He could feel it, the monster inside, rising up.

"Now!" he said, more forcefully, and held his arms wide to give her the perfect target. "Hurry!"
