When the femme was awoken from her slumber, it only took her a moment or two to realize the danger she was in. The male had her within his grasp, quite literally, and even though he was not causing her much physical harm, in a way that was worse. The threat of what could happen was clearly there, and it made the fear of what would happen even worse. If he had already done the many things that were swarming through her head, she would at least know it was happening, and not have the possibility of what could happen hanging over her. Shilo only needed a few moments with the male to realize who this kalak was, and the reputation of him in his current state was enough to make even the bravest of wolves afraid. And she was not particularly brave. She had been doing better, forcing herself to explore and go out more than she ever had before, but she was by no means a brave or courageous wolf. And she probably never would be. This interaction just proved that she should have stayed home and never left her den. It would have been better for her to die there on her own than to be tortured or captured by Perdere and used for gods only know what.
Shilo’s weaker form was cast aside, a dull throbbing pain went throughout her form as she hit the side of the cave, but she knew it was only going to get worse from here. Perdere was not known as a merciful wolf, really none of their kind was, and she was by no means a pup anymore, so she had no leverage against him to try and save herself. All she could do was hope that it would be over quickly, and that she wouldn’t make it to whoever it was that he was reporting to, if he was indeed here to take her to someone else. Farant was gone, he had been dead for some time now, but she never felt safe. Before she lost her family she had been told of their past, and she knew what a female with her blood would be used for, and the thought of it made her cringe. Shilo was truthful with the kalak at first, afraid of what would happen if she lied about where she had been living, and she told him she was in a pack. “…So, tell me, which pack was it? Do not lie to me, child, for even if I think you are, my wrath shall rain down upon you, and you will find that there is no guilt within me for the crimes I commit." His words chilled her, and she knew that the threat was not one to be taken lightly. Once more, words stumbled from her throat, trying to be honest but piss him off by telling him how she didn’t know why she was accepted. His words were true, she would always be the weakest link to a pack, but yet the alphess had allowed her to stay in the pack regardless. ”Cr..Crith Thalmhainn. I don’t know why Nimueh let me in…but she never asked much or anything. And I just kept to myself.” Fearful green orbs stared at him, hoping that he would see the truth to her words and not lash out at her. It wasn’t her fault that the alphess had just accepted her without much questioning, at the time Shilo had been thankful. But now she was wondering if it would have been better if she had just remained a loner like her brother.
The lanky femme tried not to think of Tiresias too much. She was afraid that Perdere would see though the lie and know that her brother was indeed alive and well. And the fear of what would happen to her if he determined she was lying was enough to make her consider telling about her brother. But she couldn’t give him up to this monster, even though the fear of torture was enough to make her consider it. She needed to find the courage for once to not just give in, it was not just her life at stake here. As Perdere went on to talk about her brother, her audette’s perked at Tiresias’ name. So the kalak knew that her brother was alive, and that he was nearby. He knew more than he had let on, but she had already lied to him and didn’t know what to do now. Shilo knew that Tiresias had been living at Gen Seid, and it was indeed nearby. But was the rest of what Perdere said true? She knew that he indeed was the heir to the throne, but surely there was another who had claimed it and would try to kill him regardless? The femme chewed her lip in uncertainty, did she admit to her lie and let him help her brother, or was he lying about that too? She didn’t know how to believe his words or how to determine what was true and what wasn’t, and it made her tear up in confusion and fear. The femme turned her head away, not wanting him to see that she was so affected by him that he brought her to tears when he had barely even laid a paw on her.
Trying not to let the tears fall, Shilo finally spoke. ”I…don’t know about Tiresias…I…didn’t know he was still alive. I thought he died like the rest of them.” Shilo wasn’t sure if she could believe what he said about wanting to help her brother. Believing him went against everything her instincts told her, and she was also afraid to admit that she had lied to him in the first place so she decided to continue with the lie. If it turned out that he was indeed trying to help then surely he wouldn’t be upset that she had lied to him? But she also didn’t know why he would want to help Tiresias, wouldn’t Perdere want to do the opposite of help? It didn’t make sense to her, and she didn’t know what was the right thing to do here. But her words had already been said and she couldn’t change them now, so all she could do was sit it out and see what Perdere would do now…
