At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Loyal Til Death [vampire x Tempest war]

It was quite simple really, he had returned to Blossom Forest to retrieve his mate, no matter what condition she was in. All he knew was that he had been tricked by the kalak he had welcomed into his family, had been tricked into a ploy that had resulted in the kidnapping of the love of his life. And though he was of the line of the tempests, none of their magic ran through his blood, but still the rage and fire and anger boiled deep within his soul. There were only a few who had truly seen him angry, but it was not a beautiful sight to behold. He had been known in times past to rip apart his enemies, usually only those who had irreversibly wronged him - usually by harming either physically or mentally one of his loved ones. He held no pity for the dead, nor did he hold any guilt. It was rare for his anger to surface and there had to be such a fault against him so as to deserve it… But this… Yayoi had gone one step further than even that. He did not know if Sebring was alive or dead, if she was being used as a punching bag or a blowup sex doll… Of course those particular examples did not really come to his mind. No, the worst outcome of any possible situation was imaged in his mind in exquisite detail. For the prior, he saw her beautiful coat ripped away, but not exposing hairless flesh, no, but red, oozing, bleeding sinew, torn muscle, and the glimmering white of bone. He saw her screaming every time they pressed on a fresh wound, saw her blacking out, collapsing in a heap of unconsciousness when they went too far… Only to be revived by one of their sick and twisted so-called healers. Healers… He had been glad to find that Khaleesi had remained here after her mother Hellene had left with him… And he wished that she would not be have to be pulled into the next upcoming battle…but more than likely it would affect her.

But to digress, there was still the latter situation. For that one, he still saw wounds upon her flesh, but not long tears. No, in that second situation he instead saw superficial and deep bite marks and boils like the plague upon her sweet bodice. And her angelic smile was stripped away, but there was no scream - she had already gone horse from the previous hours of crying. He could see one monster after another mounting her, taking her, raping her… But there was no end to it. When one was done, the next stepped up to bat, and pounded away at her. How long had he worked… How hard hat he toiled to ease her of her fears and help her grow into the strong femme that he had already and always known that she was?

So where was she now?

He had followed her scent here, back home to Blossom Forest. He had no idea why they would have brought her here, or what he would find once he finally found her. All he knew was that she was within the pack once known as Malignant Felicity… And that that pack had been renamed and reclaimed by the creatures of the night - vampires that his son, Aindreas, had informed Kalgalath that Lucyne had killed Aindreas‘s only remaining daughter, along with one of the precious Arcus Irae. It could only mean war between the Tempests and the vampires, and though Kalgalath was really neither, it was still his battle. Not only were most of the Tempests related to him, but Sebring was within the vampire’s pack. Even if his abandonment of his pack meant that he lost reign of the pack for forever, it did not matter as long as he could recover her, could save her. And once he had - for he would not allow a single shred of doubt that he would - they would grow old together wherever she wanted to. Whether that was here, or there, or really anywhere. What would matter most was that they were together, not where they chose to make their home. So the choice was made, for the battle to begin. But was surprised Kalgalath most was that Aindreas had taken charge, would lead his forces. He was not sure why he surprised - after all, Kal had abdicated his throne and surreptitiously plopped Aindreas into it because he wanted to bring his firstborn son out of his shell, to show him his inner strength, to heal him. And, more than that, he wanted someone ruling that he trusted until at last Vladimir was old enough to rule. Apparently, he had not been sure himself whether or not would work… But it had. Aindreas’ mind was healed, and apparently his heart too, and that was enough. Even despite the loss of his daughter, Aindreas was still a rock for others hold onto.

It apparently would be a few days before the full force of the tempests was brought together - for their strength laid not just in each other but in their allies. Aindreas had been looking all over for them, and this was the place they would all come together. Tempests, and any enemy of the vampires. Once, Kalgalath had known this place, this land, and had loved it and embraced as his own. But since he had been gone, so many things had changed, everything had changed. And on the edge of this swamp land, Kal could not help but wonder if he had turned down the throne, if he and Sebring would still be happy together, without harm or fault. But the tall warrior shook his head - now was not the time for such thoughts, only focus for the upcoming battle. He was not young, but that did not mean he was not in excellent condition. He was a warrior, trained from birth, and he had scars littering his skin to prove it. So rarely was it necessary to fight… But this was one of those times. Kal rose his head at the sound of approaching paw steps, his pinnae flickering to focus upon the origin. Briefly, a wave of spines rippled down his back… This was the time and the place… Sunrise on the seventh day since he had parted from Aindreas. This would be the time for war. And the rising sun? It was bittersweet… For though it was meant to be a sign of hope, a symbol of new birth, they all knew that once the vampires and tempests came together in battle, there will be no sun nor moon, but a devastating twilight until the day was one, by one side or the other…
