Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

It takes Talien some time before the silver white female can find it in herself to step back across the borders of Taviora. Dexter's choice had hurt her... much deeper than she ever expected it to hurt. Though the Gods had decided Thor as her bonded soul, it was her heart that the black and tawny dragga had stolen, almost without her knowing. She knew he cared for her, after all, it was hard to spend so much time together and not have feelings for one another... but, at what point those feelings had turned from appreciation and affection to pure adoration and love... she was not quite sure.

It had hurt her heart when he told her that his affections were caught between herself and another female... the black mute huntress that she had seen occasionally during pack gatherings but jealousy prevented her from daring to approach the female.

His choice. Choosing her. That hurt. Nenetl and Eztli were old enough that she knew her absence for however long, would not affect them deeply. Truthfully they spent more time with Dexter than they did her anyway. But when they started spending more and more time with Tuari too... that had been the straw that broke the camel's back. She tried with Eztli, tried to understand him, tried to teach him and work through his anger with him... but Dexter introduced him to Tuari and together they shared a pain and understanding that Talien herself knew she never could. Nights she slept alone, her black painted muzzle nestled lowly between ivory paws in the middle of the beautiful little meadow that Dexter had showed her when first she decided to make Taviora her home. He told her it was the place his mother found herself most at peace... but at the time, it did nothing to quell her aching heart. So she left.

Without a word, she disappeared into the deepening snowdrifts of winter, letting the large snowflakes cover what small trail her paw prints left behind. In winter, she could be the ghost, disappear in the blink of an eye and if one did not keep close watch on her slight figure against the white blizzards. She needed to get away, to mourn Dexter's choice, and the choice of her own pups in her own way and grow from it.

But she could not stay away forever.

Zelda opened up her pack to the silver white drappa and with such friendliness and welcoming that Talien knew she would never be able to forget it. Taviora became her true home a lot quicker than she ever before imagined any place could. She was not raised among the towering pines and thick conifers, but still she knew them each as though she had tread through this forest from puphood. Plus, no matter how much seeing his affections for another hurt, still she could not stop he need to see Dexter and her son and daughter. They were apart of her and always the need would be there.

So as the leaves begin to turn yellow, red and gold in the early autumn, and the cold wind bites as it billows through the hills, Talien once more finds herself sitting quietly at the border and staring before her, willing herself to not need to return though knowing the attempt was futile. A heavy sigh escapes her lips as the pale dancer finally gives in and glides effortlessly towards what had once been the small den she shared with Dexter, Eztli and Nenetl. Silver blue eyes scan the area around the den, searching for some sign of life as slim muzzle lifts and tastes the scents brought to her by the zephyr winds. Nothing. No one had slept here in many moons and for the moment it seemed quiet. Despite the memories left here, she needed to rest and the den she knew was quiet, warm and safe.

With a final sigh she allows herself to curl up against the thick root of the large oak just outside the den. Thick ivory tail curls over her feet as Talien tucks herself into a small tight ball and settles into a restless sleep. She needed to find a new den, or make one for herself somewhere for this place held too many memories... perhaps the meadow that Dexter said his mother favored. Perhaps now it would soothe her. It was at least worth the attempt in the near future.

OOC: I apologize now for the sporadic post... next will be better.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
