In 1991 the Guv recorded 'When My Ship Comes In' which eventually appeared on the Captured Tracks edition of My Back Wages. So far pretty straightforward.
Around 1993 Martin did a reluctant remake so Humbug could put bonus tracks on the Japanese Greatest Living Englishman CD. Here's where it gets amusing, as the Japanese CD case lists the title as 'WHY My Ship Comes In'. Then Humbug reissued GLE in 1996 with the bonus tracks but the song was now titled 'When My BOAT Comes In.' Also the two bonus tracks were transposed on the disc as compared to the packaging list.
So in honor of the anniversary GLE reissue without the bonus distractions, I interpret these screwups as karmic justice for Martin, who never wanted them appended in the first place. At least Dave Gregory got it right when he covered the song for the ReNewell CD.
P.S. The picture is for Disko Joe!
