He knew the brown and white male must be proud of himself and he had a right to be. Cuirass had seen many a proud wolf face plant after thinking they could climb a tree too cause he made it look so easy. It was always quite amusing to watch. It was always the arrogant ones. But the boy was smart and he knew he'd have to work for it so he paid close attention any time Cuirass gave pointers. He was on a role with the whole teaching thing. Maybe he could take that up on the side when he wasn't stirring up trouble and kidnapping unsuspecting strangers. He didn't know anything about the boy's past but then he would never ask. It wasn't his style. He never asked Boneskull about his family. He more or less found out what came across him as he raised the boy and unfortunately met parts of his family by pure accident, cause they were as numerous as ants on old food, apparently.
He had his own past but he got over the troubled parts fast. He had a brother and they were close as can be, Kronos. They hunted together, ate together, slept together. Inseparable. Then one day Kronos went off on his own and never came back. At first Cuirass didn't question it. They did go off independently sometimes. But as the days turned into weeks then into months and still no word, he didn't know what to think. His parents had already disappeared too so he was more or less on his own and he wasn't even a year old yet. He got there on his own. He stayed in Asteraia and made himself the Monster's apprentice. He got training from her and threw himself into it, wanting to better himself so he never had to have anyone at his back. Maybe he had some deep rooted abandonment issues but you'd never know by looking at him.
The boy clung to the branch in front of him. Cuirass was sure he was scared to fall, scared to fail. He had to let that go to truly succeed. Look at him, being all wise and mystical. Take that, Bel and your stars! He smirked minutely before letting it drop. Okay, focus now. He gave the male a few more tips, hoping to help him out and he watched as the male's brows furrowed in thought. Obviously it was good advice, but then he knew it was before he gave it. Cuirass took a step back then to let him get his bearings. He could see the male was trying so he patiently waited, his tail thumping the branch behind him as he waited to see what would happen. Finally the male wobbled to his paws. He was still unsteady but that would only change with time.
Cuirass grinned, quite proud of himself and his new pupil. At the boy's question, he tilted his head and scowled thoughtfully, shaking his head as he looked up into the branches. "As far as the branches will let me. They get smaller and weaker sometimes the further you go up so I try to test the branches before I add full weight. Otherwise you'll be taking quite the tumble."
