The female seemed awfully set on finding out what he was doing so close to Iromar. She didn't smell of the swamps so he didn't figure her for a pack wolf which means she wasn't guarding the borders to keep out tresspassers. She was looking for something or someone in particular. He didn't want to play that game cause he always hunted alone. He couldn't trust anyone else with what he was. He couldn't control the dark passenger once it set its eyes on a victim. He couldn't control any collateral damage and the female didn't have the look of a killer. A warrior, maybe. Someone who wanted answers, yes. But she was innocent in his eyes. At least she was willing to give him some information about himself. That helped relax him a little, ears pricked as he listened.
So she used to live in Iromar. That could be useful information in itself. She knew the territory. He didn't know about any royal family but she was a ranked wolf once which means she has strong loyalty and ambition. She's also a fighter if the royal guard is any clue to her skillset. He tilted his head. "Dexter, Tri Force of Taviora. Your guess is as good as mine. I don't know a lot about the new alpha but I plan to change that for the sake of my pack and their safety. I'm sorry you lost your home. That must be traumatic." He tried to sound genuine, his eyes turning soft near the end. It seemed the polite thing to do. He did know that Pine and her mate and what children they had came to Taviora but he didn't keep up with all the specifics on refugees from Iromar. She could have easily been with them, especially if she was a royal guard or whatever.
He would think that meant she liked to stay close to her alpha. She brought up working together and he scowled, shifting his weight. "I don't think we're after the same thing, per say." He didn't know how to say it. Hey, I'm looking for someone worthy of killing, not just information? He wasn't sure she'd take that well. She asked why he was tracking and he flicked his ears back for a second before he sighed. "There are rumors of kids going missing, getting kidnapped. They say they're going to Iromar. I don't like the idea of helpless children being held somewhere by force."
