News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Moonfeather

The wonder in Eldrax's eyes when Kutcha responded to him made Moonfeather smile. He was her closest friend and confidant, and even if he couldn't speak to her with words he certainly did not lack when it came to expressing himself. Her brow furrowed slightly when the boy asked about ghosts, though, finding the topic a bit harder to explain than the mechanisms of healing. "Not quite, but maybe that's a topic for another day, hm?" After all, he seemed about as confused by the topic as she felt perplexed by the objective of explaining it, so it was better to move onto the subject matter that he'd come to learn about.

She explained the reasons for cleaning wounds and the pieces seemed to click in Eldrax's mind as he mentioned how his mother encouraged him to keep any open abrasions clean. "The more you know," she said jokingly when he seemed perturbed by the fact that there was actually good reason behind his mom telling him to stay out of the mud. Moving onto the matter of cleaning other's wounds, Eldrax seemed a bit put off by the idea. Moonfeather considered the implications of this - if he wasn't up for offering to lick another's wounds clean, what about when things got really personal, like during birthings? But perhaps she was getting ahead of herself - he was only a pup, after all. Today was just about teaching basic first aid, not finding herself a prodigy. So she focused on his mention of using a creek instead. "If running water is nearby and the injured wolf can move, creeks are definitely a good option for cleaning wounds. But sometimes a wolf might get hurt far away from clean water, and not be able to walk that far. Cleaning supplies, on the other hand, can be carried to them."

Together they moved down the slight incline towards the collection of healing supplies. Stopping at the station of mosses, Moonfeather asked Eldrax which he thought would be a good option. His eyes went wide and he froze under the pressure of the decision. Moonfeather remained calm and quiet, letting him consider the options. Finally he let out his breath and pointed to the springy mat of moss, explaining why he had chose that one. "An excellent choice, Eldrax." The woman then moved between the gathered mosses and the next station of supplies and laid down. Without having to ask, Kutcha flew over to them and landed next to her foreleg. In his beak was a bright red berry, which he crushed and then painted in a jagged line down her light gray foreleg, simulating a bleeding cut. He then walked back to her shoulder, turning to watch the lesson as it proceeded

"That type of moss is really good for wounds that are still bleeding. It can soak up the blood - and any bacteria in the wound - and help stop the bleeding as well. Why don't you give it a try? Use the soft side of the moss to mop up a little of the berry juice, and then use it to put pressure on the 'wound.'" Her expression remained soft and encouraging as she motioned at the stain of juice on her limb, hoping this opportunity to practice on a fake injury would be fun for him while also educational.
