Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Since hearing the call for Boneskull, Aine’s mind had been racing. It had been quite obviously a male voice so it couldn’t have been Boneskull’s sister; the one he claimed wanted to kill him. But that didn’t mean that it was the call of a friend either. Even if they hadn’t been getting along she would’ve felt compelled to make sure that she wasn’t sending her imprint off into an ambush. So, after giving Bones a nudge to get his attention and alerting him to the call, Aine took off after her other half. He’d seemed a bit wary which made her nervous. She had no idea if she’d be of any use in a fight but even broken as she was, she wasn’t about to just sit around and wait like a ninny. She’d find a way to help, even if it was only to serve as a distraction. Hell, she’d even use herself as a battering ram if she had to. How much more damage could she do to her head at this point anyway?

Unable to keep up with Boneskull’s headlong pace for fear of her legs getting away from her, Aine approached the scene to the sound of snarls and snapping teeth. Instantly her tail bristled like a bottle brush, held out behind her as her lip curled. A low growl started deep in her chest as she crouched and crept closer when she heard the sounds of assault turn into clipped words. A little confused and still wary that this was some sort of trick, she kept herself hunkered down in the shadows as the low growl died abruptly. Pale eyes peered through the foliage and caught glimpses of a ruddy colored male. Had Bones’ uncle finally found him? She wasn’t sure what to think about that. He didn’t seem like a particularly pleasant individual but then again, neither was her imprint. So perhaps she would withhold her judgment for now. She got along reasonably well with Bones so perhaps his uncle wasn’t that bad either?

Regardless of his demeanor, though, she felt a bit conflicted seeing him here. She had fully intended to help Bones find the wolf; to prove that she was useful and worthy of being kept around. Now that her services were no longer needed...well her heart sank a little at the lost opportunity to prove herself. It was really all she’d wanted; to prove that even broken, she was still worthy of consideration. Would Boneskull leave with his uncle now? They seemed to be arguing, but she knew that he’d wanted to find the red wolf. If she hadn’t followed would he have just disappeared like he had when they first met? Would he still?

She tried to grasp at the confidence she’d gained while bickering with Bones but couldn’t quite find it. So, with a barely audible sigh, she lowered herself silently to the ground. She wouldn’t leave just yet, just incase Bones needed her. But also just in case he decided to leave without saying goodbye.
