Former pro and Seminiole Middle School Chris aka Tello makes NJAA debut Posted on April 30, 2018 at 12:32:03 PM by Jeff "Laca" Conway
Former Tampa pro player Chris. who learned to play jai-alai at Seminole Middle School and the Winn Dixie wall in Largo made his NJAA debut Thursday night.
Playing in the mid 80s against guys like Paul B., Paul Gunn, Scott McDonald, Seminole King, Seminole Javy, Seminiole Egerbie, Mark "Joey" Fox, Tiger and Boo, Tedrick and dozens of others, he "rose from the ashes" to become a decent backcourter for the final 10 years or so at Tampa jai-alai.
His amateur name was Tello before assuming his first real name when he went pro. He was best known for getting into a beef with Tiger and Boo in the early days who were calling him "Yo Yo" instead of Tello. Chris's reply was "My name is Tay-O, not Yo Yo!" a quote that has not died in over 33 years now and has been heard in my household for many years!
Chris teamed up with Ricky, a former teammate in Tampa to win Game 1. We hope to see him again soon. Replies: There have been no replies.
