Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Not once in all her years had Seraphina seen such a look on another wolf’s face. The way his mouth curled, the warmth in his eyes that seemed to be more than just warmth. Of its own accord, her head tilted slightly to the left as she contemplated her strange, brindled man; for he was certainly hers. Fate had decided it would be so. Not even an angel could argue with fate. Even if she’d wanted to, the way he looked at her now would’ve given her pause. It was almost as though when he looked at her he saw nothing else. Not the trees around them or the flitting shadow of birds finding perches for the night. Those twin orbs of the clearest blue seemed fixed on her and it was the tiniest bit overwhelming, but also quite as it should be. Fallen though she was, Sera still possessed the pride and vanity of an angel. She might not possess hearing but that did not affect the thickness or shine of her coat or the litheness of her figure. All of her faults were neatly hidden away from eyesight which suited her just fine. But would it change the way this man looked at her with such obvious approval if he was aware of her flaws? Would he still think she was divine if he knew that she had never heard the sound of her own name?

Rather than feed her anxiety over her imprint’s possible disappointment, she came to the conclusion that he would find out eventually but that didn’t mean she had to tell him right then and there. She would much rather bask in what she was fairly certain was adoration before revealing that particular gem. Afterall, she’d been taught to speak and if she just kept his mouth in view then she could extend the moment. Not indefinitely; that wasn’t exactly practical. He would find out her faults sooner rather than later, but it didn’t have to be right now, while he was looking at her as if she truly were an angel that had descended from on high in some display of lights and smoke.

She watched him carefully, saw the way his ears twitched and wondered if she’d managed to project her voice properly. Having never heard her voice, she didn’t know what it sounded like or whether she spoke too loudly or softly at times. But he must have heard because he came hurrying out of the stream and without hesitating, slid along her side. Again that sense of the very air around them shimmering or vibrating consumed her as she twisted her head, watching to make sure he wasn’t speaking when she saw him snap at her tail like a playful pup. Another snort of laughter escaped her and she gave a swing of her hips, checking him in the shoulder and none too lightly, though it was doubtful to do more than jostle him. By the time he circles around her, Sera can’t help but grin, her heart swelling at evidence of a playful soul. Fate had surely been kind.

Returning his smile with one of her own, her tail bouncing more animatedly behind her, regal eyes of purple and gold fell to his lips once more. The way he spoke, it nearly sent her into a giggle fit! He was so eloquent and passionate. Was he truly this dramatic on his own or had the moment carried him away. Eyes sparkling with her amusement at his ardent speech, she wondered if she ought to respond in kind before wondering if she was even capable of it. Certainly not without being ironic. Would he respond well to irony? Best not to tempt it so soon. ”I am Seraphina, of Glorall. I’m not really sure I can tell you everything there is to know...that’s an awful lot, but I suppose it would give you a reason to stick around. Should I start with the day I was born?” She was teasing, of course, she didn’t remember the day she was born. She hardly remembered stories of it and could only imagine that it wasn’t a particularly glorious day. She’d seen a newborn pup before and they were slimy and squished looking. Then there was the fact that she had been been born incomplete.
