Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

- Zelda -

Things around her den had been… different. Yes, that was how she would word it, different but not unpleasant. Lazarus had come and stayed with her the first night, she had told him that they could search for a place in the subsequent days of his living in Taviora. She wasn’t persistent on the matter though and soon enough he had his own little bed in her den and made his home at her place. She didn’t mind, just because it was different didn’t mean it was bad. He was her imprint, but honestly even though they stayed in the same place she rarely got to see him with everything else going on. She had been trying to get better about seeing her cousins from both her mother’s and her father’s side. Of course things weren’t going so smoothly with that. Petra had come back informing her of Diveen’s changes and no sooner was she informed that Blackthorne came banging on her door being… him. It wasn’t just that though that bothered her. There was an absence that she had grown used too and seemed to have quieted ever since the ball. That of the four brothers that was Alexander, Herschel, Vladimir and Constantine.

They were her diligent scouts and Zelda hadn’t really seen any of them since then. Part of her knew it was likely her fault. She didn't outright reject Alexander’s attempts at courting her, it was more she felt unworthy or unable to give him all he deserved. Just as she felt towards Lazarus too. Imprint though he was Zelda was still unsure of any other feelings she might have for him simply because she had been mated before, still felt love for Hyrule, but as more time went by that love slowly corroded her and turned to hurt. That strong belief that he would someday come back was turning to doubt and pain that he had left her to do all of this on her own. Part of her even wondered if his venturing away hadn’t been her fault as well anymore. That it had been a clever ploy on his part to leave without hurting her feelings quickly. That his word that he would be back someday had been a lie. She didn’t want to think so. Over the years now though it had simply just left her feeling empty and broken in part of her and any thoughts of ‘trying again’ were non-existent. She felt unlovable, and now that Taviora was her main focus far too busy to attempt any form of romantic relationship.

It was for the best that she let it be. She barely had time for Lazarus who was in her den sleeping every night, though lately she had been noticing a rise in the amounts of small flowers grown around her den. New arrangements within it and everything above. She always thanked him and was so grateful when she saw them. Often coming into the den late at night and then leaving early in the morning, not always before he was awake. She felt bad for that too, but not as badly as she felt about Lex and how he had distanced himself once more from her. Matters of the heart were so difficult, and convoluted, and Zelda had enough problems without inviting those in.

She was heading home for an early evening when she spotted the silvery form of Talien outside her den. It surprised her at first, causing her to pause as she saw the wolfess waiting amongst Lazarus’ flowers. He didn’t seem to be here though, not right now anyway. Zelda was somewhat aware of the situation that her uncle caused. After all her mother had been quite upset with him and what he had done, accident or no. Zelda was young, she was still young, she had seen wolves take multiple partners and had heard of such things in different forms in the past yet nothing like that had really happened in her family, at least, not at the same time. Her grandmother had had multiple mates until Zelda’s grandfather, but each had passed away or left the lands. Even her mother had taken Zelda’s father, then later was with Eden. It wasn’t unheard of, but none of these situations had come to cause issues because, well… the past relationships had been done… over. Finished. It brought back to light on if Zelda counted her and Hyrule as done and she shook her head not wanting to muddle her thoughts with such jargon right now. Her gaze landed on Talien, of course now, Zelda knew who Dexter had ultimately ‘chosen’ between the two. Talien’s distancing of herself had been understandable, she had been wounded. Things had to go on though. Zelda told herself that all the time too. It was hard.

”Talien, I’m glad to see you.” Zelda spoke lightly, gently, though perhaps a bit tired from all she had been dealing with as of late. Though… Perhaps not all bad. Seemed as if Asteraia had been met with a challenge, Zelda was uncertain of her position with them anymore. Jinx had garnered a small peace between the two packs so at the very least they were… neutral and would leave one another alone for the time being. Though who was to say the new leader would be any better? ”If you are here you must have been looking for me. You are lucky, I usually not here. What can I do for you?” She smiled warmly at the wolfess, their hot and cold pelts giving them a good foil for one another, though really they both were quite similar. SHe hoped the wolfess was well, but if she was back, Zelda assumed that meant something. If she was going to leave permanently Zelda figured that perhaps she wouldn’t have come back. Those were all assumptions though, and Zelda was more than happy to wait and here what she had to say.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
