tomorrow i will come back

leader of the whole pack
Cypress relaxed her anxious stance as Thoth suggested tracking down some food, but couldn't fight the lingering blush. Danny's thoughts followed Thoth's a bit, but his concern was more for nutrition than focused on the kennel master. It seemed to him that Cy never stopped moving; if she wasn't at the kennels then she was working with her pack, or studying, and if she wasn't doing any of the above she was mooning over Thoth in one way or another. To hear she was skipping meals didn't come as much of a surprise. Making a mental note to have a talk with Olive about his concerns, he trailed after Thoth. Cypress, uncharacteristically, brought up the rear, pausing every few feet to gape wide-eyed at something or another. It was a grand house, Danny thought agreeably, but it was still just a house.

Cypress had never been in a place so fine. Even the Aran's estates had paled in comparison to this house - to Thoth's house. Her place back in Knell, even the Inn in Shaman, they were nice - they were home - but... She peeked at Thoth's back. This place made it feel like he was so far away, levels higher than she'd ever hope to achieve. She put a stop to those thoughts quickly. This didn't change anything, not really. Thoth might be rich, he might have more magic than anyone she'd ever met, and he might be the son of a god, but he was still Thoth and she still... Her expression softened, and she kept her thoughts more on him than the house for the rest of their trip into the larder.

Cypress crouched down to study the cans on the lower shelf. "Do you think they're still good?" she asked curiously.

"Very likely, as long as the seals are good. Avoid any bulging cans," Danny replied, taking a can of tuna for himself. "Shame we don't have any bread."

After some debate, Cypress finally took a can of olives. She loved them and rarely got as many as she liked, since Effie and Alder both coveted them too. Even if they were old, at least they were something she recognized.

Their selections made, the group moved back into the kitchen. Danny sat on the nearby counter, but Cypress was too nervous - a part of her still felt like she didn't belong - and plopped down in a corner to eat her olives.

"So... where should we start looking for...?" Danny asked as they ate. He wasn't even exactly sure what they were looking for. Money? Something to sell off for money?
