Re(1): What Has Happened to the Officers' Clubs

Back during WW2, LtCol Evans Carlson, USMC, came under severe questioning for his apparent belief in the practice of "all ranks are equal", as shown in Mao Tse-Tung's Communist Army--a figure Carlson seemed to have admired. Now it appears that some, if not many, among the social engineers who run the clubs have abandoned subtlety, and forced the amalgamation of officer and enlisted patrons, so PFCs can rub shoulders with generals, and afford the latter of the former's wisdom. That line in the Declaration of Independence has seemingly come full circle, and "all men (plus, of course, all women) shall become equal, in rank and privilege, etc. Ah me, why am I being reminded of Sir Joseph Porter's line in "HMS Pinafore", "A British sailor is any man's equal ... excepting mine."
