Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

- Zelda -

The ceaseless rain had been so draining, it made even small tasks more difficult or taxing than they needed to be. Her small form already was soaked, but she had business to do, things that always needed tending to. It was rare though to see anyone else go into the downpour. Maybe a stray hunter here and there, and her patrolls but most others she normally saw out and about doing their business were absent. It made the forest feel like a large, empty place. It was a sad feeling, one that left her feeling a moment of serenity and emptiness both. It gave the lands she called home an almost eerie quality for this time of year. Soon as the rain broke and the sun returned though, Zelda knew everyone would come bursting forths again. So it was because she was so used to the quiet forest that her eyes instantly went to the first signs of other life.

Her tail waved lightly, pleased to see someone else and around this day. She hadn’t expected anything other than polite conversation with her younger cousin, only to really check in on her. She knew the girl was with her mother most the time, and the family situation surrounding them was awkward at best Zelda still cared for the girl as she did any of her other family members. It would be good to get to know her more. She smiled at the girls casual greeting, it was one thing she could always count on with her family was they didn’t lift her up as others had. With her family she felt she could be herself easily, even with those she might not have known well. So Zelda explained to her what she was doing out here, and smiled at Nenetl’s own reply that she simply couldn’t be cooped up anymore.

She let out a light chuckle, her soft smile set on her maw before she replied, ”I don’t blame you in the slightest. I don’t think I could do it either.” Though she did not know Nenetl’s reasons, Zelda’s were similar. The den held a lot of memories, they were good ones, but bittersweet because of it. It was starting to change though, for the better, but that took time. Still as much as Zelda would have liked to stay and chat for a long time she knew it would have to end at some point, but she would put it off, but let it be known, she did have to do her patroll. She was surprised by Nenetl’s interest, but not in a bad way, more that she was happy the girl wanted to come along. Two birds with one stone and Zelda was really happy to have the company too.

”Yes, I was on my way, if you want to come along and help you can! I would really like the company and assistance.” She said her tail waving flicking water in every direction as she did so. She motioned for the silver girl to follow, taking off at a jog towards the borders, continuing north until she reached the area where their forest and that of Enocra met. ”It’s a bit nerve wracking with so much going on around us, but nothing at the same time, I’ll admit.” Zelda said conversationally as her paws touched the muddy worn path that went around their borders. ”We probably won’t see anything, but with Iromar being how it is right now, as well as Asteraia’s changes I think I’m on edge.” Even Zelda was nervous sometimes, though the talks with Jinx for their treaty with Asteraia certainly helped on that ground, she still knew Blackthorne wasn’t going to stop whatever he was doing. That and Teza had asked a favor of her, something she didn't wish to do but when matters of soul were at stake, and knowing her own bond she couldn't leave her cousin to suffer that anxiety for long. Save that though, at some point, while she knew she wasn’t on the Dark Bringer's radar now, that would very likely change as the conflict rose around his pack and she would forced pick the sides of her old allies, not that of him. Someday… For now though she knew it was likely to be a very uneventful patrol, which she was hoping for and would be less so with the company of her cousin.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
