Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

- Zelda -

Zelda wouldn’t ever blame or judge anyone if they wanted to go. Talien had more reasons than most to not be able to stay in the forest any longer. She was certain, after Dexter made his choice known to the family, that Talien would be hurt and Zelda couldn’t blame her. It was part the reason she wondered if she had seen less and less of Alexander over the last few seasons, and now it seemed the wolf she thought her most loyal champion had distanced himself and set to work on his own tasks rather than hover around her as he used to. During the ball she had hurt him, she had told him she wasn’t sure if she was worthy of his affections, and since it seemed as though their friendship was over. Since then as well though she had had her imprint move in upon her den, giving him more reason perhaps to step back, and while no one even knew of Lazarus and her’s connection, not even her own mother, she was certain if Lex had seen or noticed his scent around the den he would… misunderstand. There was nothing truly romantic between them, but Zelda knew the pain of the heart could be so great. It was why she held, even Lazarus, at leg’s length now. Now that it seemed Hyrule wasn’t to return, well… It was hard to trust or even give her heart again not knowing if what was between them was really ‘over’ and part of her still hoped to see his white and silver form trotting through the forest once more just randomly one day.

So, needing some time away from them, from this… She understood Talien so much it hurt.

To see the silver wolfess return though brought a smile to Zelda’s maw, a friendly wave of her tail, and while tired she was very glad to see she was unharmed and well. Though when Talien replied to Zelda’s greeting she couldn’t help but give a bit of a hapless laugh. ”I wouldn’t say too much… but trouble… yes. You have missed a lot and so little at the same time, but I will not bother you with the minute details when this is a joyous time for us.” Her tail waves again thoughts he thinks of Iromar, of the changes in Diveen, of Asteraia as well. What was more a hurried request of a favor had come from Teza’s maw, her cousin, her Champion of something being wrong with his soul… It came from Asteraia. Since finding her bond with Lazarus, Zelda took matters of the soul quite seriously. Their bond grew and etched their way deeper and deeper the more they spent time with each other, as if it deepened just because they were close together. He was frantic… and Zelda wasn’t going to let him stay that way.

Zelda was happy to listen to Talien’s request, and statement. ”You are never a trouble, Talien, Taviora is lucky to have you.” She said dipping her head to the wolfess lightly. She lifted her gaze back up to the wolfess as she explained that no matter what happened between her and Zelda’s uncle that the forest was her home. She smiled at that, she knew just how Talien felt. Despite the hurt she felt and the memories it held Taviora was the only place she could ever call her home. She nodded though she paused at Talien’s request that she would like to challenge for the Focus rank. ”Well you certainly wouldn’t have to do it yourself, but you are in luck. I was approached by Astrid not long ago and she told me she actually wanted to retire, but said her son might be trying for the rank, but I haven’t heard much since. I know you are worthy, so all you would need to do is hold a small pack hunt, or a lesson for some of our young ones, at the very least.” If Talien wanted to do more Zelda wouldn’t stop her, but Zelda already heard from Nenetl about how she had been taught by her mother extensively, so Talien was certainly capable. Just she might have contenders on her climb it would be a race more than a challenge now.

”If that is something you would like to do, then you can start your task at your leisure.” Zelda said smiling. It was soon to be winter, having a new lead hunter for spring would be ideal. Zelda wasn’t sure if any wolves in Taviora would be having children, but a lead hunter was always an important rank to have filled.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
