”Just ‘Cause You Can’t See It, Doesn’t Mean, It Isn’t There“

The young male shivered as a cold wind blew through the forest. So far he didn’t like his first winter. He was thankful that he had the thick pelt of his father, but it was still cold and he hated it. He wished it were summer again, where he could be out and about all day and bask in the sun. With how cold it was he wanted to just curl up all day with his sisters and share their warmth. It seemed that no matter what Bennington did he was cold. With an annoyed grumble the brute walked through the trees, wondering why he had wandered so far off in this terrible weather. A part of his mind wandered back to the femme he had met. She was the first wolf he encountered outside of his family, and he had taken quite a liking to her. Little did he know that there had been some sort of love potion running through the stream that afternoon and that he had fallen under its spell. But Lyudmila had been pleasant and fun enough that he still had lingering feelings towards her even though all effects of the magical water had gotten out of his system. Maybe that’s why he wandered so far off, because he still had hopes that he would encounter her again.

The young brute quickened his pace through the trees when he began to recognize where he was. The stream he had been following finally had reached the main river where he and his sisters had made their den at. Knowing he was almost home gave him the energy boost he needed despite the winter chill. The smoky colored brute made sure not to touch the ice cold water as he trotted along the river’s bank. But he was thrown off when he heard the sound of a scream reach his young ears. He almost fell to the ground as he tripped from the shock of the howl. Not only was it a panic inducing sound but it was one that he recognized. Ghost…his father…whatever he was to them. Bennington was still getting used to having their father around, but it was a good change. Before the young male didn’t want to leave his two sisters alone, but now with the other brute around he felt more comfortable that they would be okay. But he was still skeptical about why Ghost had not been there when they had been born.

Putting aside his uncertainty about the other male, Bennington turned his form to race to his father’s side. He didn’t know what help he would be able to offer to the adult, but he couldn’t just ignore the sound that he had heard. ”Gho…Da….Father! What’s wrong?” The young male had miscalculated how fast he was going and couldn’t stop in time as he ran across the bank, and his paws skidded in the dirt and he crashed into the taller male. Panting from his run, Bennington’s mismatched orbs looked left and right as he got back to his paws, where was the danger, what was going on? Seeing nothing out of place or threatening he turned to the snow white male, the confusion clear on his face. ”What’s going on?”
