Let's keep this comparison reality-based Posted on May 31, 2018 at 05:06:29 PM by Craig G
The Jai-5 can be seen as having 3 varieties:
- As Originally Conceived - with $1000 seed
- Castrated with Extreme Prejudice - zero seed
- Should Have Been - $300 seed
If you were to examine the growth pattern of "Should Have Been" based on what CwEP did once the carryover reached $300, you would see numbers for the subsequent 13 perfs like:
I don't have time to compute every series, but based on the comments here, I think that most everyone understands that zero seed is an abomination, but an el cheapo $300 seed would have been just fine for generating some ongoing betting excitement.
So yes, clear proof that a 'fractional', 50 cent bet could work in jai-alai.
I am sure that if Dania had established the Jai-5 that way from the start - as a viable and worthwhile bet - then it wouldn't have taken long for some of the skilled hcappers here to get on board and provide Straymar with some competition.
I won't criticize the Pick 4, except to point out that it doesn't have anywhere near the runaway upside potential of the Jai-5.
Once the Pick 4 gets to $400, it's already getting into overlay territory, which means that it won't live long as people start piling on with their combos.
