Bohdi dashed through the forest at full speed, narrowly dodging trees with a maniacal grin on her face. How long had it been since she'd been free? Since she could run and jump and fight without Blue's disapproving face rising in her mind's eye? Her middle-slash-oldest child could be such a worrywart. The way he'd treated her, one would think pregnancy and giving birth were brand new things, not something women had been doing for eons before he was around to nag them about it. Still, she was happy. A family was a precious thing, and the Old Gods had blessed her so gently with not one, but three. Could she ever ask for more?
But running wasn't all she was out here to do, was it? There was that one thing... that other thing... She slid to a hasty stop, nearly headbutting the tree in front of her, and put her hand on her chin in contemplation. It was something to do with the kommandør, right? Ahhh, the kommandør. Bohdi sighed happily (a bit like a girl musing over her first crush) at the memory. Allianah was her favorite god ever. Goddess Dead Lady was probably third, and Zed was second. Though, really, she always sort of filled in that second spot with Rana and Zed was just kind of a tagalong (sorry, Zed).
"AH HAH!" Bohdi yelled loudly. Her voice echoed back at her and she nodded as if agreeing with them. Yes, that was right! Bohdi pulled the vial from her pocket, pleased she hadn't managed to damage it even once in the months since she'd receive it, and studied the warm liquid inside. She still wasn't exactly sure what it did, but it came from the kommandør so clearly it was special. She popped the lid off and drank it down in one gulp, wiping her lips with the back of her hand.
"Ooooh, tingly," she chortled, wiggling her toes and smacking her lips.
... It took her several long minutes to realize why that was strange: there were many more toes than normal, since both her arms and legs had been transformed. She picked up a foreleg, peering with great interest at the fluffy tawny fur sticking out between oversized feline paws. Her head dropped, peeking between her front legs to study her back ones; head hanging, she took two steps to the right and two to the left, then burst into delighted laughter. SHE WAS A GIANT. A big, floofy, GIANT.
Ooooh, and she had a tail! She thrust her forelegs back to try and capture it and get a good look, somersaulting through the brush with a loud crash. On her back she wiggled around, finally getting her paws on her tail and promptly - instinctively - biting it. It was SO FLOOFY. She chomped it again, pulling a face and working her jaw as she tried to get the fur back out of her mouth. Once her tail was satisfactorily inspected, she popped back to her feet and went hurtling through the brush in a random direction, as if she were chasing some invisible prey. A herd of deer wisely scattered as she approached.
She yowled in delight, barely noticing as she bulldozed several small saplings. She dodged a much larger tree and promptly lost her footing as she plunged carelessly over the side of the cliff. She chortled as she hung from one heavy paw, looking down at the undoubtedly lethal gap yawning beneath her dangling back feet.
"Close one," she said, leaping gracefully back onto the cliff's edge - and smashing right into someone who had been walking there. Bohdi stood over the man, her big face almost nose-to-nose with his. Unperturbed, she studied herself in his eyes.
"I'm a CAT!" she announced delightedly. She pulled her head back from him, her eyes still glowing brightly. She sat back, becoming a fairy again (she wasn't quite sure how she did that) and hopped off the man. She extended a hand to him to help him up, her unrepentant grin showing off lion-like fangs as her left hand - a metal prosthetic that covered her from hand to elbow - wiggled a hello.
