Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Winter in Moladion was simply beautiful. I could not remember the last time I was happy to see snowflakes falling from the dark clouds above. I sat comfortably in my den as I watched snow cover the land in a fresh blanket. Sighing, I rested my head on my paws and allowed myself to drift off into a light slumber. I don't know how long I slept, but when I woke my stomach had something to tell me and growled violently. Shaking the cold from my muscles, I stood and left my den, noticing the sky had stopped spilling frozen water. I wondered if I would even be able to catch something in such heavy snow. Well, I guess there was only one way to find out. Picking a random direction, I set off without a moment's hesitation.

The going was slow as I had to practically bound over some deeper parts of the snow. It wasn't until I reached the forest that it lightened up. The trees held much of the snow on their branches, allowing me to travel easier while under their protection. I silently sent a thank you to them as I trotted along in search of food. The forest was eerily quiet today and I wondered if that was completely the storms fault. With my ears standing erect, I tried to catch the slightest sound, but was rewarded with silence. Another sigh left my mouth in a great plum of smoke as I realized I wouldn't be catching anything here. Turning to follow my own tracks back towards my home, I stopped as the crack of a twig roared in the stillness. With a paw still held up, I stood stone still and waited.

Nothing happened. Sniffing the air, I tried to detect if there was another creature in the forest with me. But the place was covered in all sorts of scents, leaving me almost blind. Something had made that sound and if there was a chance it was prey, I was going to take it. Moving quietly towards the area it had come from, I made my way deeper into the woods, not thinking for a moment that I was the prey that day.
