No, I regret nothing

I recently heard a recording of Edith Piaf singing one of my favorites, "Non,je ne regrett rien". I recall asking my son-in-law Joe McCain back in 2000 when his brother John dropped out of the campaign for POTUS why not play this French hit as a farewell theme and Joe responded that it was out of the question as John attributed his POW torture to training given his Vietnamese prison guards by the French when they owned Vietnam. I recall that when Charles De Gaulle became French president and reviewed the parade down the Champs in Paris the Foreign Legion band played this song in defence of their pro Algerian stance when this previous territory wanted independence. I would have to reject this song as my own position due to definitely regretting some of my past and I'm probably not alone.Mea Culpa classmates!
