aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

To Love Is To Destroy

As he had drawn back, she had moved forward. It was a simple notion and yet caused him to feel a rabid mix of emotions. Such a bold move from such a tiny wolf. Archangel grew very still, momentarily aware of his breathing as he tilted his gaze down to hers. Gosh these rainbow wolves were small. She wasn't any closer than when he had lowered himself to the ground and yet it felt very different.

The beast had spent his recent days trying his best to deter the feelings which had been stirred to life over the recent events. Numbing himself once more to the world. And he had so nearly succeeded. So very nearly. But now? Now they were all coming back. Crawling into his heart like a sickness. He was so overwhelmed he didn't even know how he felt in that moment. They all wanted to be heard at once. His eyes searched hers for answers he would sureley never find. Of course she was incredible because she cried. She was incredible for bearing all the weight that had been thrown upon her delicate shoulders, for caring about her peers and truly anyone else. She felt so strongly not just inwardly, but outwardly. Incredible was a perfect way to describe her and her crying.

"Where I come from, you are not allowed to cry. You cannot feel. To cry, and feel as you do... to carry the burdens you do... incredible barely touches it."

Her chiming giggle seamed to instantly light up the small grove they sat in. As though her happiness could convince the sun himself to come out from behind clouds. Were all the rainbows so fascinating? Entrancing? He could never feel in the ways they did. It would surely kill him, lead him to his demise. All he had ever known was strength without feeling. To still maintain that strength, that foreboding demeanor, while worrying about someone else... surely this would lead to death. Surely it would give him a weakness. Yet somehow these small, colorful creatures were still alive. Forget the protection they had from the Tempests, so far he hadn't seen much protecting on their side. Then again, how much protecting had he done. If he had just been there with her. Instead of leaving to figure out his own issues, to deal with his newfound armor.

"And why do you stay now, Archangel? Your Vera is gone… Do you stay because we remind you of her? Do you not fear the vampires?

Entrancing peepers stared at her for a moment, thinking hard again. He had never much considered his actions in life. Protect your charge, kill any who oppose, stay alive. That was all he did, that was all the thought he had had to put into anything really. It was so simple and yet so complex. So horrible. It was no way to live.

Again he could not find the words. All these questions. All this attenion on him. He had never spoken so much in his life. Even his conversations with Vera had been brief. The scarred, scale endowed demon suddenly felt unsettled. Without warning he again stood and walked a swift circle around the perimiter of the tree shrouded clearing. His inner facing ear remained trained on Zawyne while his pupils stared daggers into the ground.

"I know she is gone, everyone is gone. Gone. Gone. Gone. Why do you tiny fairies ask so many questions? Why is it so important to know who I am, and why I am here? So many words."

He spoke to the earth, not actually wanting an answer. He simply needed to vent. To allow these alien feelings to exit his body at a safe distance from the delicate fae. Finally though, he returned to her. Instead of standing or sitting though, he simply threw his battered mass to the ground chest first almost as though his front legs had cought on something. With a huff he landed with a thud, sending dirt and leaves flying into a cloud around him. He shoved the side of his face along the ground before turning and laying on his side. Finally, he turned his face back up to face the princess. Mismatched eyes looked at her without emotion for a couple of seconds as he appreciated her from the unique angle. To be lower than a rainbow fascinated him as they were already so low to the ground in comparison to his tall stature. He felt like a lion showing his belly to a mouse.

"I fear nothing. No one. I stay because I have nothing else, no other purpose, and I refuse to let any of Vera's kind die again. I should have been there."

He ragarded her for a brief moment before wriggling around to scratch his back.

"And what about you, your peers and these Tempests? Why do you stay here?

It wasn't really much of a question. He had never been one for questions in the first place. But he didn't quite understand their situation. In fact he barely knew anything about any of them at all aside from the brief introduction his Vera had given him upon their first meeting. Other than that, he hadn't learned much else. He had been living in such a dense fog, he had never listened if they had tried, and he had never cared enough to inquire.
