Maybe there was nothing he could ever do to make it better, maybe he could remain his whole life by her side and it still wouldn't be enough, and yet even if it all seemed hopeless, only an order to never come back by the rainbow princess would tear him from her side, even if it'd sting he'd remain steadfast that he'd deserve it. He was angry with himself for running because once upon a time that was the only thing he knew how to do, and if his reputation was ragged and torn to pieces it was his fault in the end. He was supposed to have kept her safe first and foremost, to help her and her kin.

There's so much he has to do to make things right, and it seemed that, maybe, he was about to get the chance. "It is me, I can assure you I am no ghost. I am very ashamed that I had run away from you -- while you still needed me." He rose to his paws again to show a frame that perhaps would seem larger than it was before, and took a single step closer to her. How could he help her now, when all of that was surely passed? How can he truly make up for what had happened when he was gone? Maybe that is why he hesitates and moves no closer to the rainbow princess, a look of shame and traces of a familiar timidity shining in his bi-colored orbs as he gazes at her.

He knows that eyes are the windows to the soul, and she should very easily be able to see and sense his feelings, and his ears has pricked to catch anything she might say in response, if she says anything at all. The circumstances in which we are meeting again are hardly pleasant, but there was hardly a way for him to avoid that. He wonders what she has been through during his absence, how many of her friends she had found, and where she was staying now.

Black paws take a few more steps closer to her smaller form, and yet he keeps himself low as if he were beneath her, still out of distance but in essence offering her an open invitation while waiting to see if she accepts his presence even now, his gaze sad and earnest, and yet deep within his bi-colored orbs it is clear that he has missed her. If only he had thought to bring her a small gift of some kind, maybe a flower crown like the one she had on the day he first saw her.
