Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

NIYOL
male - no heart - no soul - something

"You won’t catch me!”

The aztec words resounded through the forest quite loudly, his laughter echoing about as he sprinted away as fast as he could from the scene of his ‘crime’. He had been meditating on it for some time, but today he had finally done it! His sister was resting so peacefully and it was HER mistake to been on the ground that day as she took a catnap from her training. He had caught a snake, and no one liked snakes, after all some were poisonous, some were not, and it took a good moment or two to tell if it was one or the other even if you did know. It wasn’t a big snake, after all the boy hadn’t even reached a foot off the ground yet and still mostly just looked like an annoying, puffy, tan and black ball of fur on legs more than any sort of wolf yet. He was still a kid, a young kid, and his prank certainly showed it as he sneakily, as he could at least, dragged the snake over to his black pelted sister and very carefully maneuvered it over her body before quickly darting into some bushes to watch the chaos that soon would happen. It was a little slow going at first, and the rather impatient boy was well… impatient, and he wasn’t going to wait for her to wake up. He didn’t want the snake to leave after all the work he went through to catch it either! "Psssstttt Petra! Psssst.” He hissed at her, his nearly full grown sister did little at first, but she stirred slightly moving and then she noticed it. Of course the moment she did she shrieked and clearly nearly flew out of her fur.

Her body leaped up about five feet into the air, the snake sent flying into the brush and slithering away clearly frustrated with its whole days’ events as it very hurriedly went away from the wolf it had been so delicately placed over. Once she hit the ground Niyol watched as she quickly turned. After all he wasn’t being exactly sneaky now as he rolled around on the ground absolutely screeching with laughter at this point, black and light tan legs flailing about in the air. ”You look like you could have peed yourself!” He cackled nearly breathless, though a second later his laughter was abruptly silenced. His sister took one good bound towards him placing herself over him looking furious. ”Eep…” So he quickly began to scuttle, paws flailing about as he tried to gain his footing. She was much larger and quite capable of putting in a good swipe that sent him tumbling, though he recovered quickly and began to run away as fast as he could.

“NIYOL!” She had screamed and fast-forward and he was back to now. He was surprisingly sneaky… only aided by the fact he could still fit in places she very well couldn’t thanks to his age in tandem to his hyper flexibility that made his mother question if he was part mustelid rather than a full wolf. So he was back to laughing loudly, tucked away into his hidy hole. He didn’t know where any of his other siblings were, nor if they would be on his side or Petra’s. He just darted around as quickly as he could to escape the very nimble and well trained paws of his sister. He had an escape plan though, and his flexibility was part of it. He had rapidly scurried through a creek, before he slid into an rabbit’s old bolt hole (that Niyol may or may not have chased the rabbit out of on a previous adventure) and hunkered down snickering and covering his muzzle with his paws as he heard her frustrated grumbles and sniffing as she looked around. A huge toothy grin was plastered on his maw, as he heard his sister finally move on. Perhaps she was a good hunter, but even she couldn’t track him EVERYWHERE he could go especially with how much he got around the pack. It wasn’t like they were far from the family den either, his smell was EVERYWHERE, and she would have a hard time telling what was fresh and not given with all the rain that had happened.

"Kyhaha! Sis’s face was priceless!” He finally busted out, rolling about in the den once more laughing in pure glee. It was too bad for her that he ALSO was being taught how to be a good hunter and tracker by their mom and pop else he would have been in trouble. But you had to be better to outwit the best right?. It was also too bad he used his skills for more bad than good... He poked his head out still snickering and looking rather pleased with himself. ”Heh-heh. That’ll show her who’s the very best around here.” He skipped out of the den, mostly tan banner waving above his back, the black tip of its swishing about while letting his sunny day eyes finally take a moment to look around the area. It didn’t look like she was here, or anyone else, so he was pretty much free to let her run around angrily for a while. All he had to do was just get far enough to avoid her.

"Better split then before she comes back and finds me.” He said laughing his banner waving, trotting away from the den trying to play it completely cool as if he didn’t set off his hot tempered eldest sibling. Though, now that that was done, he should probably find someone else to… entertain. Yeah that was it! Entertain. He chuckled deviously, grin still plastered on his maw and quite obviously was trying to slip away from the area, if Petra couldn’t catch him he was pretty sure no one else would. Pretty sure.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
