☪Even in the darkness, all I see are the stars☪
Briseis had never thought about the fact that she was barren - well, perhaps never was the wrong word. She thought about it, and had assumed that there was no way that she could be fertile. Not that she was complaining - Brie was glad and grateful that she had never become pregnant via way of Draven‘s sperm. That would have made her reality even worse, and she could not even begin to imagine what type of a life one of her offspring would lead if Draven was their father. Would they be innately evil? She had assumed that either he or she were is sterile, considering how many times he took her and yet her abdomen had not grown… How could she know that as a vampire, that any vampire and not just Draven, were sterile by their own nature? And so imagine her surprise, when a few weeks after her coupling with a stranger named Lupin, her belly began to swell, and there was no hiding that she was in the family way. At first she had simply assumed that it was a little bit of spring fat - after all, she had gotten a bit leaner during the winter, and assumed it was just a natural gain of the weight she lost due to fasting. But one spring day, she had awoken suddenly with an urge to urinate. It was not all that uncommon for her… But this was different-she really really really needed to pee! Brie had awkwardly waddled to her normal ditch, and as she squatted, she felt a kick in her belly. She immediately had stopped, her urine ceasing midstream, and she stayed like that, frozen for a few minutes, until there was again. A kick. And again. A sudden realization had come over her - that she was with pup, and she had at once become both very happy, very sad, and very terrified.
All that shit ever wanted in life was to fix her mother so that she could have a family proper… Pups would give that to her. She could be a mother to them like handed and have been to her… Could love them and care for them, could protect them… But then she at the same time became sad, as said. After all, just like Briseis herself, the father wouldn’t be in the picture-he probably forgotten all about her, forgot she existed, forgotten about there one night together. even if he hadn’t, what responsibility what do you want for these? But the strongest emotion was fear, terror. In order to prevent them from ever being hurt by Draven, she would have to protect them, hide them from him, never give him a reason to even ask about it, because she would not be able to lie to him. If they were little boys… What he eat them? If they were little girls… Hell even if they were boys… Would they suffer the same fate as Briseis her Celtic? For the briefest of moments, she considered a boarding the pregnancy-it would be the only way to guarantee their safety, to protect them from Draven. But it also would not be fair to them-they deserve the chance to live, for if she could hide them, they had a chance to true happiness.
And so she let them grow, and each day became a day closer to her term, anxiety grew, as did the nausea. And the only way that she saw around Draven finding out was if she never once was seen outside of Uyaraut with them. Draven would expect certain scents to be upon her, perhaps even pups - he would not think of that as odd… But if she was seen wandering around outside of the packlands with them? They would be as good as dead… If they were lucky. Then, the date came - the day for her pups to be born. Agony came over her in tidal waves, forcing her to her knees and then to her side as she began to push. One by one, bit by bit, she pushed them out, and found herself only terrified that Draven would come and find her. After all, she had not been within the confines of the pack when it had crippled her with pain - no, she was in the forest in the mountains, and had crept into a dugout hole beneath the set of roots of an old tree. She counted them as they came out, not necessarily to count the pups themselves, but to count the periods of rest in between each. The first was the male, and then the second was a female who came out piebald, and the third was another princess who looked quite similar to Briseis herself aside from two lines of brown tipping on each of her ears. Briseis cried over them, wishing that she could give them a brighter future, one that would not include Draven… And as she cleaned them off she cried some more, hoping that she would be able to provide a good, decent life for them… fearing that she would not be able to. But at some point when she had finished and they were suckling at her teats, Briseis froze and began to growl, her gaze looking towards the entrance as someone approached.
