At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

She speaks up as the blood-polluted water swirls about before finally easing into small, steady streams. The chill of the pool numbs the wounds after a while but it cannot stop the clawing anger of the darkness in his head.

He watches as she pulls up from her reclined position on the limb and repositions so that she is standing now as she continues to question his situation. It’s unfortunate for her that curious little pups often get eaten. He ignores her disdain for the tainted water and chooses to indulge her first question for a moment. ”Just a fight,” he answers with usual aloofness. He knows the extent of his injuries but the fact that he obtained them is not bothersome to him. He will live for another day and be able to continue with his vicious cycle of chaos. What his opponent looked like in the aftermath he did not know, nor did he care.

He slowly and seemingly absentmindedly moved closer to the fallen branch as he feigned interest in seeking out deeper water. His attention was removed from her for a moment before snapping back as he drew closer to the limb and made his move. Powerful muscles in his hind legs propelled him upward and forward as he erupted from the serenity of the pool. His robust figure lurched for the branch as he aimed to ram his body against it to effectively knock the child into the water.

His shoulder connects with the tree and it reverberates violently, shaking and bobbing in all directions as he then descends back into the elbow-deep water. The girl has no chance without the gripping claws or natural of a wild cat and her paltry form is sent over the edge and into the pool near to him. He immediately turns to go after her with a wild, malevolent excitement in his eyes. His jaws were agape and his large paws splayed out as he shoved them into the water after her, stomping and snapping without seeing where they will land, before coming back up and searching for her drenched figure.
