A small yawn escaped the boy. The world was new. The den was the safest place to be. But that was not where Runihura wanted to be. It was a new dawn rising and his family had yet to stir. He thought to give a small woof to rouse them, but decided against it. Instead, once he was certain they were all still asleep, the young destroyer bolted from the coziness of the den.
Hura cast his silver eyes back over his shoulder briefly before continuing east towards the beach. It was easy to follow the trail his mother had often used leading from the den towards the sand. His skidded to a halt with a grin on his face. The sun was cresting on the horizon. The sight was beautiful, like a raging fire wanting to engulf the world. His maw parted slightly, his tongue hung out the side of his mouth.
Suddenly, something caught his eye. A crab scuttling about near the water. The russet marked pup crouched and growled at the creature. How dare it be on his beach?! Hura barked viciously at it. When all the crustacean did was turn and wave its pincers at him, it only fueled his anger. The pup leaped forward to pounce on the crab. His mark as short, and the crab pinched his nose.
A surprised yelp escaped him as he shook his head vigorously to loosen the beasts grasp. Eventually, it was flung from his nose. Hura did not back down though. Instead, bleeding nose and all, he pounced again, successfully pinning the creature beneath his paws and tearing viciously at the crab's. His milk teeth did nothing to the exoskeleton, but once he bit down and pulled, the cartilage eventually released to remove a leg from the center. Eventually, another and another until Hura had remove all of the crab's legs and left a destructive mess in his wave.
Hura huffed at the no doubt dying crustacean and trotted off down the beach. This was his beach! He would do the same to any other creature smaller than him that decided to meander onto the sands.
