It surprised him how much waiting bothered him. He wasn't sure how long he was supposed to wait - days? Weeks? He could not recall how long his own father had waited and so, he figured the decision came down to Sekhmet. When she did not respond, he merely waited. He simply remained put, an unmovable guardian of the den as he moved between bouts of interest and idle rest. So her voice was a surprise - seldom did she speak and it immediately brought his attention back to her as she summoned him down into the depths.
He huffed as his paws reached the bottom of the den; the light was minimal and it was...agitating to not truly be able to see what they had made. Still, he did his best as he probed each pup in turn with his nose - rough, enough to make them cry out in annoyance. If they didn't cry out? Ah, then he'd know them to be weak. He found the pup she spoke of then - small, female. "Small. Female. My mother's blood." It was spoken as fact as he nosed the child back towards Sekhmet's abdomen before he settled into place among the cramped place. He'd not stay for too long - she was well, as were they. Soon he'd leave to mark the area once again.
She reached out and he in turn did the same; he nipped at the fur of her forehead before she lay herself down to rest. Names? He stared at her and grunted. He'd never thought of names. He had been named for the day of his birth and little more. What was in a name? It took him some time before he was able to muster up something beyond staring at she and the children. "Sons," he drew his muzzle towards the largest of the boys - the last born, though he did not know, who was born broad even in infancy. "Runihura," he jabbed the pup as if to mark him with a name - destroyer, a name apt for such a large child. And then he drew towards the other. Smaller than the other but just as fierce - "Kaliban."
He peeled away then though he gave them his warmth; his ears had turned back to the outside world, suspicious of any noise beyond the rain or rumble of thunder. "And the daughters?" He tilted his head, curious as to what names the Pharaoh might find suitable.
