We found each other in the dark

Through the black starless water,
And the cold lonely air.
On the rock restless seas.

Ruxin was a bit on edge, and as the conversation lingered on, he began to regret having followed this bloke to the shoreline at all. Perhaps his anxiety stemmed from their proximity to the beach. The sound of the distant crashing waves appeared to be sharper and ring clearer in Ruxin's ears. The sound threatened him, it taunted him, it reminded him of just how powerless he was. Even when he looked to the sea to end his own life, it betrayed him. Now he couldn't smell it, or hear it, let alone stand by it, without feeling puny and useless to its wide expanse and churning chaos.

No too, seemed unpredictable. It was clear Ruxin had approached him during what seemed to be an emotional moment. Now the older stallion stood before Ruxin much more poised, but still nonchalant in his answers to the questions he posed. Ruxin felt self conscious and unsure how to continue interacting with him. The last thing he wanted to do was offend or irritate this stallion, especially in his weakened state. But then No squeaked in a direct question.

One red ear lobe flicked forward and then the other. "I'm not sure." He replied weakly, but honestly. Ruxin bobbed his head, allowing it to rest high above his withers as he stared at No. "I washed up here some months ago and haven't felt strong enough to risk another swim. This territory, and the one next to it have been quiet since I arrived."

The painted stallion flicks his thin copper-colored tail over his haunches as he lets his gaze drift down the blustery beach. "Don't let me stand in your way. I'm just passing through."
