Misty Mountain is opposite of Rainbow Cliff. Mists hover year-round at this high altitude, mistaken by some to be thin clouds. Thin layers of snow cover the mountain, making some areas slippery and hazardous.

Some think it romantic, a place to bring their mates, while others come to play and romp. However, all must agree that there is some level of mystery and spookiness hovering about with the mists...

Fear Makes People Do Terrible Things

_________________________________________________________________________

The male had not thought of the consequences his actions could have. He had been a virgin when he met the femme, and walked away…not. He had never imagined that sort of thing just happening. He had always thought it would be with his mate, someone he loved. But it had happened with a total stranger. Sure she was nice and pretty enough, but to have jumped to those sort of actions was not at all like him. But he was a being with hormones and wants, and he had let that get the better of him. And now he was to learn that he was a father. At the time he did not regret what happened, he was more just surprised by it. But he was about to be even more surprised when he discovered that Briseis was not alone in the den she had made. When he spoke and the femme’s growl died on her lips, he pushed forward into the den, freezing when he saw that there were young with her. That was why she had reacted the way she did. He was a threat to the babes that she was protecting. But he would never hurt pups, even if she didn’t know that yet. A small smile appeared on his kissers for a moment, but it dropped into a look of surprise when she began to speak once more.

They were his?!? How was that to be? It was his first time. He didn’t think of that sort of consequence when he had made love to the femme all those months ago. His bright green orbs widened in shock as she spoke up. He let Briseis speak without interruption, hurt by her words and actions as she curled up more protectively around them. Did she think that he would hurt them? But he couldn’t blame her for what she said. She didn’t know him at all really. And really he didn’t know her either. But he could not even think of leaving her or the young ones. He had been left to fend for himself when his family had been killed. The same attack that had left him with the scars across his face. And he could not imagine purposefully doing that to anyone. Sure Briseis was an adult, but she had her own demons to worry about. In fact a literal demon that likely would threaten the life of her young…his young…their young. Thoughts of confusion, fear, uncertainty, happiness, and hope swam through his head. He had been alone for so long, was this a sign that he was not meant to live his entire life in solitude? Could she be the friend he had always wanted. Or perhaps....more? As bright green orbs took in the site of the pups and her nuzzling them, he knew that he would never willingly leave them.

But instead of speaking up or doing anything like a normal being, he stood there awkwardly for a moment, taking in what had happened and what this meant for his future. He would leave the pack and stay with Briseis. Protect her and the pups, especially from the vampire that she had told him about before. He would be whatever she needed of him, a friend, a companion, even a lover. Her words shook him out of his daze though, and he shook his head to clear his thoughts. “Please… Please Lupin. Say something. Anything. I can’t have my last memory of you to be this.” With a soft whine the brute pushed closer to her, hoping that Briseis wouldn’t turn away or think that he was trying to come after their young. ”Sorry, I was just…surprised.” He lowered himself to his belly so she would now he meant no ill will, crawling towards her and the smaller beings she was curled around. As he drew closer he could see how beautiful they all were. There were three of them, and they were all perfect. He couldn’t imagine that something as innocent and perfect could have had anything to do with him. ”They’re really mine?” Eyes filled with uncertainty looked to her, unsure of what he was to do.

When she affirmed that they indeed were of his seed, he crawled closer to her, licking at her cheek if she didn’t shy away from his touch. Seeing them brought out an affectionate side of him that he had never felt before. ”I’m not leaving…you or them. I won’t let anything bad happen to them. You’re safe…they’re safe.” He looked to meet her gaze, showing that he meant his words sincerely. Lupin had never felt so strongly about something before. And while the feelings were all new to him, they were not bad. And he actually felt content. Keeping an eye on Briseis to make sure she was okay with his approached, he leaned his muzzle over her to sniff at the three sleeping pups. They were the softest thing he had ever touched, and he knew no matter what that he would dedicate his life to them. And to their mother.
